The crying "History" button at the top right sends its regards. Yes, the World Jewish Congress has published a report that demands Wikipedia add a feature to view the history of articles, see what actions were performed by whom, and "host forums and discussions within the Wikipedia community to address concerns about neutrality and gather feedback for policy improvements". It also wants to force all admins and above to reveal their real names.

I have a screen where I want a lazy-loading card of various items below some necessary information, all of which will scroll down. My initial approach was to nest the lazycolumn under the card which is nested under a Column with a calculated nested height based on the size of the calls list. However, I can't do that, and neither can I do the following.

@Composable
@Preview
fun mockup() {
    val calls = mutableStateListOf(Pair(1..418, 418 downTo 1))
    MaterialTheme {
        LazyColumn(Modifier.verticalScroll(rememberScrollState())) {
            item {
                Text("Text and some necessary UI elements")
                Slider(value = .418f, onValueChange = {})
            }
            Card(Modifier.fillMaxWidth()) {
                items(calls.asReversed()) {
                    Row {
                        Text(it.first.toString(), Modifier.fillMaxWidth(0.5f), fontWeight = FontWeight.Black)
                        Text(it.second.toString(), Modifier.fillMaxWidth(0.5f))
                    }
                }
            }
        }
    }
}

I found https://stackoverflow.com/questions/68182413/compose-lazylist-section-background, for which the only viable solution found was to hack a special composable widget so that when combined, it looks like a continuous card. Still, I want to see if there's a "proper way" of doing this...

The convictions of the two paramedics shook the world of emergency workers who have typically been shielded from criminal prosecution — and it forced questions about the dynamic between the police and paramedics at a scene.

Though Mr. McClain was visibly distressed and in handcuffs, paramedics never spoke to him, touched him or checked his vital signs before diagnosing him with excited delirium, a controversial condition characterized by agitation and exceptional physical strength. Paramedics then injected him with what authorities later said was a dose of ketamine inappropriate for Mr. McClain’s body weight.

Why was Hollywood so obsessed with sky beams? I mean they cared more about making sky beams evil than making sure we knew how evil their producers were.

The heightened state of unease over the possibility of a 'Con Air' sequel resulted in an influx of security personnel. It just goes to show, when it comes to Nic Cage, the need for increased security is always 'Raising Arizona.'

Dear God, bad headline

Rolling out isn't a forced update. Microsoft uses machine learning to determine when a computer should receive a big feature update. These are gradual, similar to how how Steam staggers your game updates by default. Machines qualified by the model to have a "good" upgrade experience get updated first. This is to 1. not strain global delivery and local networks too much 2. be able to stop the rollout if anything goes wrong.

All the message they analyzed from MS meant was that as the EOL of previous Win11 version nears, they're starting to rollout the update to all PCs. You can still disable automatic updates.

The LGBTQ part only got into headlines about this because this thing might open up censorship in general, like book ban requests in Texas. It provides no path to prevent the harms to children described, meaning platforms could censor much legitimate and normal speech in an effort to prevent harm. An EFF article also says it'll have Attorneys General determine what counts as harmful to kids, meaning opening up censorship, but I can't find that in the bill text.

What the scammer wanted to steal was not the driveway; they wanted to steal the contractor (driveway replacement worker)'s money. They pretend to be the owner looking for a driveway replacement, "accidentally" pay too much, ask for the surplus money back, and then do a chargeback on everything they paid. In this case the contractor went ahead before realizing they've been scammed. Experienced contractors ask for an in-person meeting or proof of ownership.

As for the contractor who did the digging, few solid leads have emerged. When deputies called the scammer and asked him for the contractor’s phone number, he helpfully provided one – that belonged to the Orlando International Airport.

In 2012, the parody national anthem from the film's soundtrack, which acclaims Kazakhstan for its high-quality potassium exports and having the second-cleanest prostitutes in the region, was mistakenly played at the medal ceremony of Mariya Dmitriyenko at the Emir of Kuwait International Shooting Grand Prix. The incident apparently resulted from the wrong song being downloaded from the Internet.

TL;DR: The MacBook orientation sensor

  1. Disassemble the MacBook until you take out the orientation sensor (this step is the hardest)
  2. Lay it flat and give 5V power
  3. Press the first button
  4. Wait for lights to solidify
  5. Press the second button
  6. Assemble entire thing back again

...wasn't nearly as exciting as I or the title expected. C'mon now, why clickbait; also why is the comments section treating this so godly

EDIT: I just realized they DEVELOPED THE CALIBRATION SOFTWARE TO MAKE THIS THIS EASY. It's still just the angle sensor though, which is a very small fraction, but still very important regardless. You need to buy the software (one time) for €169 though
