The best controller I arguably thing is the 360 controller. It just feels right to use in fighting games and fps. I like xboxs layout with the analog sticks.

Dualshock comes a close 2nd but was never a fan of the analog layout.

I find the n64 most jarring and I get that it was meant to be used differently for different games, but I still preferred the 3rd party options that took it closer to a standard gamepad.

Your thoughts?

We've almost reached the end of the 1st half of 2024, and Xbox has had more studio closures than first party game releases in the year so far.

Others across the Xbox organization have been told that more cuts are on the way.

That framerate is hilarious.

I don't think big companies know how to make a good FPS campaign anymore, let alone hone in on classic deathmatch multiplayer. The last FPS I bought was Half-Life: Alyx four years ago, and the first one to come along and interest me since then was Phantom Fury, but I'm letting that one iron out bugs for a few weeks before I pick it up. Even former TimeSplitters devs, given the opportunity to make a new TimeSplitters, made another Fortnite instead. Likely this new Perfect Dark was built to turn it into a live service that keeps players playing it forever rather than just making a fun deathmatch to play with your friends a handful of times, which would be missing the point. And all this is to say nothing about how those devs must be feeling when even a great game that sells well won't save you from Microsoft laying you off.

I never completed Arkham Knight and only played the first two games which I really liked. But for some reason I can't get into Arkham Knight. I find myself overwhelmed by the controls that seem to do something different all the time.

Granted, I am much dumber now than five or so years ago when I played the first two. But as far as I recall they were relatively straight forward. But as soon as I reached the first tank segment in the beginning of AK I remembered when I gave up originally.

But this time I decided to soldier through. Until I got to a segment where I had to complete five or six boring ass tutorials which all showed me different unrelated things of which I needed exactly one to progress and which all could have been integrated into the normal gameplay. Three I already forgot and with one I didn't even know what I was supposed to be doing but somehow I completed it.

Is it worth it to go on playing? Do I have to know everything it's trying to teach me? I remember that it was pretty much needed to learn everything in Doom Eternal (as opposed to 2016). But at least all the controls were pretty consistent there.

Anyways. Should I keep playing? Or is Arkham Origins better? Maybe I should just replay Asylum and City instead.

About the game: A tower defense action roguelike where you control a single tower to fight against hordes of aliens coming from all directions. Pick your tower, equip up to 4 skills, and choose from a variety of traits and items to craft powerful builds that lead you to victory.

I'm here to answer any questions you have about the game!

Affected devs:

  • Arkane Austin (closed)
  • Tango Gameworks (closed)
  • Alpha Dog Studios (closed)
  • Roundhouse Games (absorbed into ZeniMax Online Studios)

These changes are grounded in prioritizing high-impact titles and further investing in Bethesda’s portfolio of blockbuster games and beloved worlds which you have nurtured over many decades.
