On the 13th of March in 1979, the People's Revolutionary Government (PRG) was proclaimed in Grenada after the Marxist-Leninist New Jewel Movement overthrew the state in a socialist revolution, with Maurice Bishop serving as Prime Minister.

After coming into power, Bishop stated the goals of the NJM: "We definitely have a stake in seeking the creation of a new international economic order which would assist in ensuring economic justice for the oppressed and exploited peoples of the world, and in ensuring that the resources of the sea are used for the benefit of all the people of the world and not for a tiny minority of profiteers".

The new government developed an ambitious social program, initiating a literacy campaign, expanding education programs, worker protections, and establishing farmers' cooperatives.

During the PRG's reign, unemployment was reduced from 49% to 14%, the ratio of doctors per person increased from 1/4000 to 1/3,000, the infant mortality rate was reduced, and the literacy rate increased from 85% to 90%. In addition, laws guaranteeing equal pay for equal work for women were passed, and mothers were guaranteed three months' maternity leave.

The government suspended the constitution of the previous regime, ruling by decree until a factional conflict broke out, ultimately leading to Maurice Bishop's assassination. President Ronald Reagan launched an invasion of Grenada a few weeks later, on October 25th, 1983.

"We have attempted to show in this Manifesto what is possible. We have demonstrated beyond doubt that there is no reason why we should continue to live in such poverty, misery, suffering, dependence and exploitation...The new society must not only speak of Democracy, but must practise it in all its aspects. We must stress the policy of 'Self-Reliance' and 'Self-Sufficiency' undertaken co-operatively, and reject the easy approaches offered by aid and foreign assistance. We will have to recognise that our most important resource is our people."

My job kinda sucks, but it is cool that if I feel like it I can hurl a handful of flour into a super hot oven and make a fireball. I found out for thong like pastas with a bread topping that we toast in the oven and especially for Brussel sprouts starting a small fire under the pan inside the oven makes it way better and faster. Also a pizza oven can be an amazing BBQ if you toss a slotted pan on top of some metal and then make a fire underneath. Fast roasting veggies and getting some real neat tastes.

F1NNSTER has the most annoying titles to his videos. Watched that one that was linked on here and now they pop up in my recommended. Dude loves to bait with his titles and thumbnails.

So i tried listening through October by China Mieville but it sucked and was not very friendly to listen to anyway.

Listening to one blowback episode multiple times has been great for my understanding of the war.

I've had a shitty cheap bike pretty much my entire life and just got a slightly fancy new one, and no wonder my ass is so good looking when I have been practically biking uphill this whole time.

Saw a TikTok complaining about the lines at an amusement park

I’ve never been to one. Are you telling me that they don’t have a maximum capacity based on all the resources available? That sounds extremely dumb to me but I’m definitely not surprised considering the fact that they’re private

Heist-type movie but the protagonists are breaking into a secure server room to dump the memory addresses where libc or the Linux kernel are loaded into memory because they have a semi-working exploit but couldn't defeat ASLR but the sysadmin is a live patching fanatic who never reboots their systems so the memory layout never changes

Don't ask why they can't just get what they want from the servers while they're in the room, this is a dunk disguised as an unfunny bit

If you have any computers that have been running for a while, go update and reboot them, don't do silly live patching stuff

It’s kind of interesting to see how “advanced” lgbt issues are in other countries compared to mine. We’ve largely accepted lesbians but gays today are treated like American gays in 2004. Not as bad as the 90’s but still not great.

Bisexuals are treated as not real and trans people are largely left alone and viewed as harmless weirdos. They make decent money as performers in some of the cities.

I feel like it is perhaps the most innocuous take to say that maybe people should continue to interact with the physical world as much as possible (though COVID is still a danger), but it doesn’t save me from the “anti-progress” and “caveman” accusations. Been racking my brain trying to find something even remotely comparable and the closest thing I can think of is the invention of the TV. Maybe I’m just yearning for some kind of moderation idk

I’m just as terminally online as the next person who browses this site regularly, but we have to be honest with ourselves at some point like am I wrong? I don’t know if humans have suddenly grown past being inherently social animals in the past 4 years no matter how much our attention spans have been fried

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Been playing through Elden Ring again and I've got a sneaking suspicion that I don't like this game.

I loved Bloodborne and Sekiro, but I bounced off of Dark Souls hard.

This Radahn fight is comically bad
