3 degrees here. Cold air was very sharp taking the rubbish out. I think it’s gonna get colder than the predicted low overnight. Be prepared for a very frost morning.

temp predictions have been revised down ☃️

I don't like having the heater on at night as it's a bit noisy but I think I might have to.

Oh I’m definitely keeping the heater on tonight.

The predicted low is -2 here, it'll be interesting if it's much colder than that!

It's a bedsocks kind of night.

I've accepted that my curry leaf plants and chillies are gonna look pretty shit tomorrow and not get any better until late September at least. I'm just thoroughly enjoying my warm living room, but better roll out of it and into bed soon before the bedroom oil heater goes off its timer.

To protect from frost, if they are in the ground you can cover with something like tarp or sheet, if in pots bring inside or a sheltered location like garage. Good luck little plants! It’s gonna be a tough week for the frost sensitive ones.

They're in pots, but trapped in an inconvenient part of my narrow balcony where bringing them in would mean moving half my plants around (and tbh the curry leaf plants are big fellas that I don't really have space for indoors any more, I used to bring them in in past years).

If I was organised enough I'd have acquired a bit of geotextile or something to drape over the plants but I'm just going to hope they're protected enough in their awkward corner with the brick wall and partial shelter. 🤞 I doubt anything will die, except maybe this chilli plant that's been hanging in there for over 3 years.

Hope all your plants will be ok.

I’m the furthest thing away from being a green thumb so I have no idea what’ll happen to your plants if they’re outside and it gets that cold.

Doesn't have to be geotextile - an old towel or a sheet folded double will do perfectly well to protect them. Sheets are lighter and don't squash the plants as much as towels.

I better pull my plants in…

Absolutely freezing taking the bins out just now. Driving home a couple of hours ago my car was saying 3 degrees when I got to my hood, so it’d be close to 0 already.
