Unfortunately not. Tree is in the backyard of a known anti-vegetation anti-mess maven. That is, a person who dug up ALL the bare earth in the backyard except for the tree (which is huuge and on the council register) and replaced it with tamped gravel and astroturf to save on mowing. Has been known to apply roundup to the nature strip in the street at the first hint of a weed, and talks frequently about hating 'mess'. Not generally liked as a person.

Magpie update : nest no longer in tree. No hope for the baby chicks as only 10 days out of the egg at most. Mrs maggie was seen this morning gathering nesting material, so maybe maybe maybe will lay more eggs. Wishing her the very best of luck. Young male maggie nowhere in sight this morning.

It's my birthday, and I'm going to the dentist. Boo. On the plus side, I'm taking today off so will go op shopping afterwards.

Just got home after 2nd six-monthly checkup post cancer. I am happy to say that I am still cancer-free. Peter Mac Hospital in its infinite wisdom has removed all the free books for reading while waiting to see the doctor. This is a major step back. I found a couple of beauties last year while I was in treatment. Things I would never in a million years have actually spent money on, but were splendid reads. On the plus side, the new station at Parkville is just outside the door and is looking splendid and hopefully will be available for use soon. The new tram stop in Royal Parade is excellent and nearly big enough. Also the coffee in the Wellness Centre is still good but the selection of bikkies has reduced somewhat.

The master of timing has done it again - stepping down while most of the cookers are playing referendum politics. I am in awe. I wonder who the cookers will protest about from now on. Not that reality features in their rhetoric.

We've lost Sinead O'Connor. A grievous loss. I love her music and courage.
