the /* makes sure you get rid of both french french and french canadian french

be sure to add -no-preserve-root to make sure ultra french is gone too

[-] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

no need, since /* doesn't start at root, it'll not trip the safety

[-] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

I think you’re wrong but I’m not willing to test it to see

the shell expands it to rm -fr /bin /etc /usr /home /dev and so on. rm never sees the /, so the safety doesn't trigger

virtual machines

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

trying to remove ULTRAFRENCH is a fool's errand

[-] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

That means we are still missing Swiss French

[-] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

What about French Ceole? Can't be too certain.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Please do not be racist to us French people, it is for that reason I have down voted your post today

If I had got one nickel every time I saw this meme on the Fediverse, I'd have about a quarter dollar, which is not very much but it's still more US currency than I have had in my entire life.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 11 months ago

jokes on you when you get canadian nickels

[-] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Can't wait for those to go the way of the penny.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago

If you're Canadian, I'm willing to send you several US currency for a bag or two of All Dressed chips!

[-] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

Wait, does the rest of the US not have these?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

They show up very rarely when Frito Lays wants to do a limited release, but they're not something I usually see in my local grocery stores anymore.

As an American based on the amount of random Canadian currency I've had In my hands having never been north of the border I can only assume if they were Canadian they would have accidentally had more than a quarter us dollar in random US change in their entire life.

You’re just acting Loony.

I'm not a fan of this one. It is kind of funny but, I'm also just too worried that some gullible Linux newbies will take this as real advice and be caused great emotional, and potentially financial, tragedy.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Eh, not really anymore. Now you need to run it with the option --no-preserve-root flag or something like that in order for it to do irrivokable damage

[-] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Not if you do "/*". The warning only appears if you try to remove "/"

[-] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

You could always just reinstall from a usb boot drive lol

[-] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

sudo rm -fr --no-cap /*

[-] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Zut alors! Règle!

[-] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago
