As soon as the shower is off: π₯Ά

Never. I go straight under my powerful ceiling fan and dry off.
I finish off with ice cold water, i never freeze afterwards
Having a cold shower at the end is probably number 1 if I made a list of things I do right in life that most people don't do. I feel so clean and comfortable for ages afterwards, no matter if I'm in my house or the middle of the forest, summer or winter. Best thing my dad ever taught me. (I mean he's still alive, so technically 'best so far', but I'm not holding my breath).
I used to do that and liked it, but dropped the habit somewhere along the way. It doesn't even feel that bad after the initial shock passes. It's even pleasant, and then when you get out, the water is cooler so won't evaporate as readily, do it's not just that you're more used to the cooler temperature, but it also doesn't get as cold because evaporation takes away more heat than the higher temperature water provides.
Also, use your hands as squeegees before you get out of the shower area and your towels won't go stinky as quickly (because they dry out quicker due to not needing to absorb as much water).
I hate taking the time out to do all the self-care things.
Then when I get in the shower I just want to sit down and let the warm water drip down on me.
I am literally on lemmy enjoying sitting in the shower right now. The fun part about being an adult is now only my husband can give me shit. And he doesnβt. \o/
Waterproof phones are nice.
That's called "status quo bias" I think
Happened to me a lot as a kid. Not wanting to go outside and then saying no to getting back in. Not wanting to wake up or go to bed
I always hate the dry world, I would love living underwater
Word. Almost all my trauma happened in the dry world. Our ancestors made a huge error in judgment by crawling out of the wet world. We need to go back.
The whales had it right.
Nah man, dolphins are peak. Their life is just eat, fuck, and terrorize lesser sea creatures.
my money is on the killer whales attacking boats and tossing seals for fun.
they got it going on

Why do people hate taking showers in the first place? Is this a meme that just gets perpetualized online or do people actually feel that?
I hate them because I work 12 hour shifts and so I have very little time to myself at the end of the day. But what I hate even more is smelling like shit. So I figured out that if I buy a water resistant Bluetooth speaker and listen to podcasts in the shower, suddenly I don't feel like I'm cutting into my limited freetime as much anymore.
That said, if some technology came out that automatically bathes you while you sleep, I'd be an early adopter.
I also do 12-15hr days. And Iβm usually on my feet. So standing up the in shower is a hard concept to accept. I need to get a shower chair.
What I do is lift the curtain and lay the bottom of it across the edge of the tub, then I sit down there. The curtain rod has yet to come crashing down on my head, but you have to be careful not to spill water outside of the tub, because it will pool up behind you and make a big mess if you're not careful when standing up and putting the curtain back.
Hope I explained this adequately, cause it will save you some money on not getting a chair.
This requires a tub though. A chair can be simpler.
So in your case itβs less around the shower and more around available time. Do you feel the same about eating and other βdaily tasksβ?
Not OP, but yeah...
There are a few mental/neurological conditions that lead to a big adversion against ordinary recurring tasks.
(In my case it's PDA; but it's something that I see across multiple neurodivergent spectrums, as well as in people with depression)
Im a different person but I feel all that so much and I dont even have little free-time >v<
Like psythik, I hated all those things because of the little time I had to myself. It's not that I hated the task; showering, eating, and even talking with the neighbors were all enjoyable in their own way (very limited talking time with the neighbors though, for sure, lmao!), but it would always feel like intrusions into the time I had for hobbies or relaxing.
This is how the robots take over by drowning us in our sleep.
Autism, do not like the feeling at all
To add to this. The sensory experience of showers is a lot.
- being comfortable in your warm clothes
- having to take them off to get cold
- having to get wet and warm
- having to dry yourself with a rough (ish) towel
- Getting cold again
- Damp air makes it harder to breathe
- Putting on different clothes which potentially feels different from the used ones
- Getting out of the bathroom to non-humid air
- Coldness of the remaining water (hair etc) evaporating
I also have sound sensitivities, so the sound of water hitting the floor is also disturbing.
I hate when my hair is wet and touching my skin, but I hate the noise of blowdriers more so
I developed a condition in my forties in which I'd itch fiercely after taking a shower. My doctor couldn't work out why but it had to do with residual water evaporating on my bare legs in warm weather.
After that I developed a resistance to showering, even though that condition has remitted for years now.
I don't like taking showers because it leads me to sad thoughts.
I hate it bc it takes some much effort for me to actually go and do it and even afterwards the rewarding feeling is barely there. If I could not take showers I doubt I'd do it even once a year, just wastes my time and mental effort
After taking off my toe nail the doctor has recommended me to keep it dry the first month and insisted to never let it get wet no matter what, so the first time I failed since I like taking showers if not daily at least twice a week, so they had to remove it once again because the nail grew wrong and piercing the meat so the second time they removed it now, let's just say I took a shower only once these couple of weeks and I now have a water phobia. I can't describe the pain of touching water directly on the meat when you don't have a nail..
Showers vs rain is a great lesson in consent. I did not consent to be rained on, I do not want to be wet just then so I don't like it. When I turn on the shower I consent to be rained on, so I like it.
Maybe it's more about clothes. I wouldn't want to be clothed while in the shower. I think I'll try getting naked next time I get caught in the rain π€
It's also about control where you're being rained on. The shower gives you targeted rain, so you can wash yourself with one hand while eating a (dry) pizza with the other.
Also, when I have rain clothes, I love rain, so I think you're on to something.
Tbh when I get caught in the rain I just embrace it and enjoy the feeling
When I get out of the shower: The dry world is a terrible place but I feel able to take it on and make a difference.
Thank you for your service.
I wish I had opinions as strong as this.
Itβs honestly better to not
You really don't, it isn't fun
Well, I'd contest that, but my opinion on the topic isn't really that strong.
*Starts taking cold showers/baths*
Problem solved. I hate every second of this. Although it is nice when I can drink from showerhead and the water is cold instead.
It also saves time when 1 minute feels like 10. Plus it's cheaper and more ecological.
Ngl cold showers in the summer hit hard
