This episode fucked me up as a kid. I was so scared I'd get bitten by a worm man whenever I transported. Still get nervous sometimes....

/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'
~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.
Fun will now commence.

Can't live your life afraid of worm men. Live your life so the worm men are afraid of you (in my instance, I give them high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, toxoplasmosis, and a severe case of exploding bowel syndrome. They'll eat some health food nut like old man Sisko first)
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I mean yes, but the odds of this incident actually happening were like a billion to one -- Barclay just got lucky. Um, in a manner of speaking.
But when it happened to Hoshi, she was just hallucinating
The lesson I take from Cyrus Ramsey is: don't smoke Risian salvia right before transporter lock. That shit will fuck you up.
Remember how we found out that not only are people fully conscious the entire time when they are converted from matter to energy and back (which makes that scene in TMP even worse), but there are CREATURES that can ATTACK them while it happens?
But those creatures are partially transported people.
So I like to imagine all the people O'Brien has stashed in the transport buffer are floating around and watching all the ship's transporter activity. They see away teams constantly coming back with fewer red-shirts, the shore leave walks of shame, and that one Lt. from Stellar Cartography who transports to their quarters every night so they don't have to make turbolift small-talk.
You'd think at a certain point O'Brien would just start saving "copies" of the red-shirts and bring them back with the rest of the away team. Which would be doubly disconcerting if you think about it because their last memory would be beaming away with the away team since they wouldn't have memories of dying.
Believe it or not, right to ~~jail~~ the pattern buffer.
It would be better than being dead.
Is it always? What if I came back half transporter worm, or all transporter worm? Would you still love me Stephen?
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
In my pattern buffer
