MODERATORS

Hey, we haven't been able to find a secure way to poll everyone yet, and I've really been itching to ask everyone this question so we can get updated numbers on our trans population here. This isn't going to be scientific or anything, but just a quick guess.

Please respond to this post with a 'yes', 'no', or 'maybe'. If you have anything to add, please use a spoiler tag below your answer like so:

spoilerhi!

Remember to respond even if you are cis.

Maybe/yes.If we take transgender in the broader manner that activists like Leslie Feinberg advocated, it would be a yes for being some sort of non-binary/gender non-conforming/genderfluid situation. Though I have some imposter syndrome about this. If we took a stricter definition of actively trans-ing my gender/changing my gender markers etc then no, though I am intentionally taking partial androgen blockers/DHT blockers for the feminising effects on head hair and body hair.

Maybe.

I've been mulling it over and I'm experimenting with peripherally fem stuff (longer, bigger hair, earrings, women's blouses/shirts, might fuck around with dresses this summer) but also I'm trying to increase my strength and muscle size and become a himbo and all of those things seem gender affirming and self affirming.

I'm aware that many of the above things aren't necessarily strongly gendered (women can build muscle, men can have long hair, etc etc). But it's been kinda freeing to make the jump to some women's cut garments.

Maybe a little bit at times but not really. I feel fine about being a cis man but I also feel that if I had a magic button that would turn me into a woman for a couple of hours I would press it once in a while, just to get some of that experience as well.

I feel that some of it is due to all the things that sucks about patriarchal gender roles. A break from some of the bullshit that is part of masculinity could be nice. I know women have their own bullshit as well but at least it would be different bullshit.

No

spoilerI guess I say no here. I present masc, and definitely lean that way, but I've come to realize that a lot more people are gender fluid than think they are, myself included. It's all kind of silly how we get drilled into our heads what we are supposed to be and how we're supposed to act, when we are all our own unique individuals.

You wouldn't consider gender fluid to be gender diverse?

I have some kind of gender going on but I'm pretty set in identifying as cis, so whatever that counts as.

details

Assigned and socialized male, never had huge problems with it but I did get frustrated with all pressures to perform any kind of masculinity. By my early 20s, probably the majority of my physical and social characteristics are gender-ambiguous. To this day I like it that way, I see myself as "somewhere in-between", and I get euphoria when young children ask me the "are you a boy or a girl" question. The first time I voiced any preference for eh/em pronouns was like 7 years ago, but I don't make a big deal of it. I don't think I really understand gender in myself and most of my experience of it is an experience of exclusion. I do understand gender in others and am attracted to femmes and enbies. My queer friends all say I'm queer-coded, but I doubt that this fits, or maybe I'm a self-deprecating enby.

I just don't want anybody to be boxed into a category that they didn't want to be in.

bonus2017 to 2020 I identified as trans, then identified as a femboy until about 2022/3 where I now just identify as myself. I'm still in touch with my feminine side tho. I'm also bi
