“If indeed the socialist commonwealth were an impossibility, then mankind would be cut off from all further economic development. In that event modern society would decay, as did the Roman empire nearly two thousand years ago, and finally relapse into barbarism.

“As things stand today capitalist civilization cannot continue; we must either move forward into socialism or fall back into barbarism.”:rosa:

Born in southeastern Poland on 5 March 1871, Rosa Luxemburg was a towering figure of the classical socialist movement— a brilliant thinker, sharp-tongued rhetorician, and trailblazing leader of the proletarian cause. The famed socialist historian and journalist Franz Mehring once called her the “best brain after Marx”. Her comrade and dear friend Clara Zetkin described her as the “sharp sword, the living flame of revolution”. Even Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, with whom she often clashed, was compelled to acknowledge her status as an “eagle” of the Communist movement, at least in retrospect.

“Democracy is indispensable to the working class, because only through the exercise of its democratic rights, in the struggle for democracy, can the proletariat become aware of its class interests and its historic task.”:rosa:

She was, by all accounts, a truly unique figure. A Jew, a Polish woman, physically disabled and politically an irreconcilable Marxist—the obstacles to her pursuing her aims in life were legion, yet she rose to become one of the paramount leaders of the largest and strongest socialist movement in the Western world, German Social Democracy. In her short but brilliant career, she locked horns with the Prussian military elite several times and spoke as equals with Karl Kautsky, August Bebel, Victor Adler, and many other leading lights of socialism. As a political agitator she rallied masses of workers against capitalism and imperialist warfare, while also challenging Marxist orthodoxy as both a theorist and instructor at the Social Democratic party school in Berlin.

Yet since being cut down by proto-fascist thugs in January 1919, Luxemburg has been memorialized as a martyr for the revolution and a symbol of the tragic highs and lows of Germany’s twentieth century more than anything else. While her name and image remains iconic, her prodigious intellectual output and many contributions to socialist theory, have often been reduced to footnotes.

“Freedom only for the members of the government, only for the members of the Party – though they are quite numerous – is no freedom at all. Freedom is always the freedom of the one who thinks differently. Not because of any fanatical concept of justice, but because all that is instructive, wholesome and purifying in political freedom depends on this essential characteristic, and its effectiveness vanishes when ‘freedom’ becomes a special privilege.”

little article from 4 years ago

According to four people who regularly talk to Biden, all of whom asked for anonymity to discuss internal campaign matters, it is virtually inconceivable that he will run for reelection in 2024

“This makes Biden a good transition figure,” the adviser said. “I’d love to have an election this year for the next generation of leaders, but if I have to wait four years [in order to] to get rid of Trump, I’m willing to do it.”

A political strategist who has recently talked to one of Biden’s closest advisers made the argument for serving one term this way: “Is 81 years old too old to be president? Yes. Is an eighty-one year-old president standing for reelection likely to be successful? He is not. And is it the right thing to do for the country? No.”

people will blame his antivax woo woo shit but the moment kennedy really lost was when that video of him struggling to bench 115 dropped. he was toast after that. "he was incline benching!" "you don't know how many sets he'd done before the video was taken!" don't care. no shame at all to anyone who can't bench 115 but if like 40% of your branding is "jacked old guy" you should either be able to put up more than that or at least be smart enough to not be filmed benching if you can't.

Words cannot describe how much I hate people like this. Bragging that you got a trans woman to delete a harmless post because its vaguely kinky (not even really?). And I've seen trans women support it because "person with platform shouldnt be so openly stereotypical" or whatever X_X fucking hell fucking respectability politics dipshits.

They think they're policing [gooners/porn addicts/freaks/whatever buzzword they want to use] but they're actually the biggest freaks of them all lmao. Their kink is policing other people's behavior. And that right there is twitter.com's core engagement lmao. Sex cop kinksters.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The anglo's fear of perversion is itself the deepest, most unfathomable perversion.

You really should just be able to scream "RESPECTABILITY POLITICS DOESN'T WORK" at people like this to make them explode and also catch fire while exploding.

abby is a legit kinkster though. she seems to be embracing it more but also bouncing between the "must appear like 'respectable british transwoman publically'" as she's stated before. meanwhile we get to see her awesome collection of latex outfits in various contexts.

edit: but yes i agree the sex cop people suck esp since that was pretty harmless post of hers

Awesome, cool, love that for her!!!

I know you agree lol I just want to emphasize.

Kinda just straight up tired of trying to invest in relationships with people. People will just humor you and then eventually ghost you because secrelty they found you annoying the whole time. They'll NEVER talk to you and communicate and say "hey this specific thing bothered me can you stop".

I really am starying to get blackpilled on friendship lol. Idk if real friends exist. People just seem to be your friend until they decide you're no longer pleasurable to them. And the "you dont owe people anything" discourse just makes it worse.

The autism and RSD makes it all worse. Its stupid and I'm exhausted with it.

LET US ASSUME THAT WE ARE FUCKED

The particular nature of our doom is up for any amount of debate, but the basic fact of it seems largely inevitable. My personal guess is that millennials will probably live long enough to see the second Great Depression, which will blur inexorably with the full brunt of climate change to lead to a massive human dieback, if not quite an outright extinction. But maybe it’ll just be a rogue AI and a grey goo scenario. You never know.

I've managed to secure a temporary PMC job that I'm underqualified for. It's a substantial salary increase from my previous position, and I'll be doing work for a mildly unimportant harmless public institution instead of a crappy corporation. It's not a permanent role but I'll take it over nothing.

Matt Christman just posted his first fully coherent tweet since he was hospitalized in late September: https://twitter.com/cushbomb/status/1764814099941359940

His tweets even a week or two ago seemed just the same as when he was first able to post again. There is hope that our fav adult son will make a full recovery 🥺

Being totally honest I have tried to move a lot in 2023 and I noticed my many chains. Debt being the big one around my neck, healthcare and insurance are about my wrists in regards to employment, and I feel like work/free time are the ones at my ankles. It’s really frustrating that the more I realize I am capable of doing the more I see the limited horizon around that capability.

I feel like going back to school was great choice (I like learning and I think being an educated black man is a virtuous thing for the sake of myself and those who came before me) but it sucks to realize higher education and possible more debt is the only pathway forward for technical advancement. Going back to school also really shows me how limited peoples time is (especially adults returning to education), I cannot really engage with clubs and organizations and build connections and friendships with peers. It’s really just a shame, it’s nothing life-threatening like our comrades in Palestine 🇵🇸 but it sucks.

Sadly i can’t vote my chains away. I can’t just hustle grind my chains away. It really sucks to not see a solution in the foreseeable future, still worth trying to move though. Even just to hear the rattle

I like how places like r\askhistorians will enforce strictly a "no politics" rule and remove anything that even comes close to a "leftist biased" view of history but it will somehow have no problems letting a guy called "the ghost of herzl" spread zionist shit all over their sub lol

Burnt the shit out of my arm at work last night. This deep fryer has these steel plates that cover the vats and I was done with it and so i covered it but the plate wasn't seated properly so I tried to shift it into place and it slipped and fell into the oil and splattered a large amount over my arm.

It could be a lot worse, it's mostly a first degree burn but there's a couple places that have blistered and like the blisters just. keep. growing.
