Sounds like a corrupted Windows install or some other Funk. I get stanning Linux, but that ain't normal windows behaviour.
Are you over/undervolting? Might cause some crashes. Might your powersupply be inconsistent? I would generally expect linux to be more resilient, but not magically so.
