UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Why did they change it in the first place? FPTP voting sucks.
So the baddies have more chance of winning, as usual.
Let's change to the acknowledged worst voting system in the world! That will bring voters the stability they are looking for.
Agreed. But considering it is lib dem voters they are worried about. And changing FPTP has been a hu ge issue for LD since the 70s (at least my memory is only that old)
Honestly I'd expect them to recognise this more then anyone. Publicity of the change seems to be the biggest need. And how do they change it back.
Yes but it sucks in a way they benefit from. They stood little chance with functional democracy. It's literally an antidemocratic move.
this change was made by the Tory government, btw.
here's the main part of the article copy-pasted (with important parts in bold):

Whenever a YA novel has an oppressive government, they talk like the Tory’s.
This is some dystopian government shit right here. My dude is gleefully saying some shit that is clearly not true and seeming to enjoy the dissonance that causes in mind of listeners.
