His degree was in medicine, no one can prove why the drink may have been named for him, as he wasn't involved in the creation of it

Had to look this up. Dr. Pepper was formulated in Waco Texas by a pharmacist named Charles Alderton, for the soda fountain in the drugstore where he worked. Some say his employer, Wade Morrison, named it after a Dr. Charles Pepper, the father of an old girlfriend. But the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco has been unable to confirm this story.
