Turn it on in the sink, then it may only take like a second in the shower (if you're lucky with your plumbing layout)

As a shameful normie whose sink is entirely separate from my shower, I'm having a hard time picturing this

If your hot water line comes from [wherever, in my case the basement] and passes by your shower before leading to a sink, it's likely that the water by your shower will also be hot once it comes out hot at the sink.
