Personally, I defend the gameplay as deeper then its seems on the surface level as someone else summarized better than I can elsewhere in the thread.

As for the writing, the overall plot is kind of a mess but as I've mentioned a few times in this thread I'll defend the character writing as some of my favorite in the series till my dying breath. Its a good ensemble piece with some good character development. It works for me.

Listen XII and XIII are flawed in ways that I understand why they dont click with certain people but X is just good. IX is the best though.

Yeah that was on purpose though I think.

I actually kind of understand that aesthetic complain. I love the main cast (especially my ship Fang and Vanille) but I can see how the visuals could rub someone the wrong way.

I'm a huge defender and fan of the game but I agree with most of this criticism. Its just kinda hard for a group of fugitives who are on the clock before they turn to diamond to dilly around and talk to NPCs lol. Which is the point the chat message is making.

Gonna disagree about XIII's characters, though not necessarily the overall plot. I love XIII's main cast and think it has fantastic character dev though. Its actually the game's main strength imho.

Personally my main thing i like about XIII is that i think it has good character development. It is definitely also pretty though.

Yeah XIII's combat is a lot deeper than people give it credit for.

Turns out there's a video about this subject of XIII vs X (also turns out the Final Fantasy sub has this video ready because this question comes up all the time lol.

Yeah I think the World Maps just made the PS1 games feel more open to people lol. So they were kinda fooled by that.

Abolishing IP rights would probably mean every dude with a passion project idea for a superhero film would set about making that a reality. Whether they could get other people to work with them on it (presumably the only remaining barrier to entry) is another story I guess, but that shitty Spiderman fan film became a reality and that was under capitalism.

The differences from the current scene would be

  1. More passion less product
  2. It wouldnt be the overwhelming majority of films coming out
  3. More alternative options if you dont like the Official Product
  4. Probably some original ideas rather than just adaptions

Like guys not only would there still be an MCU, thered be like 10 competing ones. Live action reboots, animimated ones, and probably more than one claiming to be the sucessor to the Disney one.

To me this would be fucking awesome but i just want to prepare the rest of you lol

A friend of mine is constantly telling me "JRPGs arent RPGS because blah blah choices blah" and I would always counter "well they have their historical roots in tabletop rpgs so the label isnt inaccurate" and I based that on a video that i couldnt find. And i FOUND it. Its not actually that hard to find lmao <3 I just wasnt trying that hard because I instead pointed them to an Extra Credits video about the differences between JRPGs and WRPGs and why those are innacurate labels and how genre names for video games just suck in general.

But here is a fucking VIDEO that explains the direct line between D&D to Ultima to Dragon Quest. FUCKING FINALLY.
