There is no set number of immigrants you can cage, shoot, or expel to peel off voters from the republicans.

Republicans didn't go as hard on the border in the 1990s and 2000s as they did after Obama took office. I presume the experience of a black man being elected president made a lot of white reactionaries shortcircuit and they settled on the answer to "how did this happen" with "the democrats opened the border and flooded the country with mexicans / OTMs in order to cement their power"

I still wouldn't call Bush good on this, he definitely escalated the anti immigration rhetoric and created the model that every monster since him has followed
I remember chuds getting all hot and bothered and telling me how Obama opened the border. Telling them Actually hes deported more people than W did. And watching it bounce off them like acorns off a squad car.
When I saw this I thought it was absurd.
Now years later it angers me.
I've been saying this to libs for over a year and half and I still get hit with "hARm rEdUctIon" nonsense

"But if it passes - hunting of human beings will be legal."
"First of all - we, the democrats, must show our resolve in controlling the border. Second of all - if the law passes only migrants can be hunted."
"So you're saying that migrants aren't human beings."
"I am not saying—. Actually - what news org are you with?"
Manu Raju of CNN sees an opening and pounces. "He's with LeftyNews."
"Hey, Manu - how ya doin'?" Then the senator points at the LeftyNews guy and says to security "Remove him. They keep sneaking in. He doesn't have permission to be here." Manu louly tells his camera guy to turn of the camera. The senator smiles. The LeftyNews guy protests, demands his First Amendment rights, and yells but they start frog marching him out. Manu and Frank watch. Frank laughs and tells a joke about a priest, a rabbi, and Biden at a bar in Gaza. But Manu's mien is serious befitting the situation. Finally the LeftyNews guy is out of the building and his yelling can't be heard anymore.
"So, senator - could you explain the all-important political dimensions of the Democrat's MigrantHunting bill?"
"Finally - somebody who speaks my language!"
"Cool bill, unfortunately we want to nuke Mexico now"
