I'm sorry I wasn't entirely clear, BIG server, with open sign-ups. The complaints about finding people aren't really valid when we have big servers like this one or mastodon.social. Such servers have the best reach and the easiest onboarding. Pick those.

Your example with YouTube is not an anti-spam measure, it's them trying to restrict and create exclusivity with their content, they're just lying and calling it anti-spam. I think it's better to have some annoying automated spam defense like Reddit and the gang does than it is to be judged on my worth and denied because I'm not interesting enough or meet some dumb criteria to join the exclusive clubs Lemmys are slowly becoming fuck that.

It is, I don't go on Reddit anymore, it's insanely toxic. I've gotten all I could've gotten from there anyway. I only use Lemmy nowadays.

I'm gonna need a source on that.

Just pick an open one, that's the easiest choice. No essays, no worrying about being denied, easy.

Just pick one, you're thinking too hard. I just picked one that's open because I didn't want to write an essay about myself to prove my worth and get someone to accept me, because I know that there isn't any reason why anyone would accept me over someone else (I'm a nobody). I hate the idea of someone else having to review my worth before being allowed to sign up, what a disgusting concept. "Oh it's to stop spam 🤓" All the other sites have been dealing with Spam good enough without asking me to prove my worth to them, maybe the Fediverse should take some pointers from the big boys at Big tech, they seem to be doing better than you are when it comes to this.

Shoot him in the balls instead, where it really hurts. Headshot is too humane, ends his suffering, he won't pay for it that way, this way he will though.

I've never been able to get it the official way because the perverted doctor and therapist I was seeing really wanted to see "a man pretending to be a woman" and required I dress and act like a woman to get it. I wasn't willing to humiliate myself for them (I still have dignity) so DIY for me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

I have tried, I've tried for years. My voice is just too deep for it to sound feminine no matter how I speak, and it's not to say that I haven't been trying. I won't deny that I sound slightly more feminine than I did before but it still doesn't pass. Some people tell me it does but I do know they're only saying it to be nice, because anyone else will greet me as miss or ma'am when they see me but then change to sir when they hear me speak, even if I'm speaking fem.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Well I guess I can kiss the idea of official HRT, Voice, and Bottom surgery goodbye in the near future, not like I could afford those last two anyway. Hopefully I won't have to look for a new supplier, I have plenty stocked up just in case but you never know.

People tend to treat me very friendly and refer to me as ma'am, which feels nice. Right up until I speak then they correct themselves and say sir and it make me feel bad, on days when I've had enough I'll yell at them for being piece of shit bigoted asses and they usually get scared and go back to ma'am but it's not genuine.

Don't rely on people in your support circles to tell you you pass, they'll say you do even when you clearly don't. People I know insist that my voice passes because they want to affirm or make me feel better, but I know it doesn't because of how people treat me when I speak, also I've gone to voice training subs in the past on a burner account and asked if my voice was masc or fem without telling them if I was transmasc or transfem, they almost always said it sounded masc, and a small handful said androgynous. I don't meant to be rude or mean but I don't need people to make me feel better when I ask if I pass, I need people to be honest, even if being honest seems like it'll hurt me, cuz you know what'll hurt me more? Being assaulted in a woman's space because someone doesn't think I'm a woman. It's happened before.

You'd be better off simply buying extra on your own. I can't share where I get mine but I'm sure you could find a supply for you to stockpile in case you need to DIY in the future.

Other day I made a post about transphobia in the Fediverse and I crossposted to several communities, one of them was [email protected]. It seems the post I made attracted the attention of the mod and he decided to come over to this community and post transphobia apologia here. He was banned shortly afterwards. I would encourage people here to avoid that community, and any other communities he moderates. Since as a moderator he can easily exercise his power to silence dissenting views and to intimidate others. It's not best to participate there.

I don't know of many good ones that could be used instead, perhaps someone could start a fediverse community on lemmy.blahaj.zone, but that's beside the point of the post. Main point is to share this information with the community so you can avoid using a community run by a known transphobe.

I've only been on Lemmy a few days and I've already witnessed a lot of thinly veiled transphobia, anything from people dismissing the existence of trans people, to trying to claim we are predators. I've also seen people downvoted in the general communities for expressing trans support, or seemingly for no reason other than simply being openly trans or visibly queer. I know it's an ongoing effort to moderate transphobia on Lemmy, and the fediverse as a whole. We have to also address mentions of thinly veiled transphobia and transphobic users. Transphobia isn't just a differing opinion, it is a dangerous hateful sentiment which causes harm to vulnerable people and it needs to be addressed, at the instance and community level. We need to put in the effort to identify transphobic dogwhistles and language used by transphobes to eradicate this type of behavior from our communities and servers alike.

Some people will argue that the light stuff isn't something to worry about, but that's not true. This is a tactic they use to blend in with normies and make them think that nothing they are doing or saying is wrong. It's what transphobic right-wing YouTubers and Facebook users do to avoid being banned for hate speech. We are better than these corporations though, Fediverse is run by communities and for the users, we should not let these things slide as easily as Corporations do, they're in it to make money, we... We're in it to create a community for the users. Part of that means kicking out those who don't have all our best interests at heart.

Seriously why? It feels like they think it's really funny, to make us try and present feminine to get what we need to feel better. Like it's a fetish to see what they think is a man dressed as a woman asking for estrogen. My doctor and therapist called me he/him even though I told him she/her multiple times, I practically yelled at him for his repeated misgendering, he didn't care.

I wish I knew why doctors and therapists put these ridiculous requirements on people. It's not like people are taking estrogen recreationally, like for real what is this for. Also how does me wearing a dress when I have face stubble and a masculine body prove I "feel like a woman" dumb fucks just want to see what they think is a man wearing a dress. It's obvious they believe I'm a man. I wasn't willing to degrade myself or sink to that level, I wouldn't have been able to live with myself. I got DIY, was the only option left that didn't involve degrading myself for those pigs and still getting denied anyway.

I'm sorry, I've had a bad day lately and I was recently reminded of this shit.
