The New York Police Department is crowd-sourcing their investigation into the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson to the general public after two days with no positive ID on the shooter. But they may not get much help from the internet, according to multiple popular TikTok sleuths.

The media organizations owned by billionaires can’t understand the mystery. They continually screw over their employees, the public trust, their customers, the government and everyone else they can are baffled as to why the public is unwilling to help. Billionaires everywhere are quoted as wondering why they aren’t tasted like the deities they see themselves as.

More at 11.

Of course they understand, they're not dumb, they're evil.

I think what's been the shock, if anything, has been has slow the Americans have been to react. That it's gone this far without the people of the country doing anything is wiiiild. I guess all that lost sugar, lead and tapeworm IQ is doing it's job.

Anyone who rats him out will be the most hated person in America. There’ll be folk songs casting them as Judas and raps comparing them to the killers of Black Panther organisers and artworks of them burning in Hell with Hitler and Nixon and Murdoch, and eventually their descendants will change their surnames to evade the association.

The hostel that handed over images to police before they had a warrant is already catching shade.

Good, fuckin' snitches

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm surprised they haven't caught more than that

The most hated on Lemmy for sure. I am less certain about the whole USA. As most are aware, Lemmy is very radicalised.

What are normal people that aren't chronically online thinking?

[–] pandapoo@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago

Have you taken a look at Facebook or Twitter....?

This is the single most unifying event in America since the Game of Thrones finale...

MAGA chuds, blue hairs, tankies, and normies, are all pretty united in their collective "lol".

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

Everyone is chronically online now, just not on chronically on Lemmy.

If nothing else, this is why I didn't think anyone would rat him out. Especially for the measly $50k the law is offering. They'd have to make it $5+ million, paid in advance and anonymously, so the idiot snitch could GTFO of Dodge before they come down with a sudden case of lynch mob.

Where are the dipshit trolls who inhabit the dark corners of the internet? ... why aren't they going out to help to endlessly troll and make life a living hell for the investigators? Whenever some dumb internet contest happens, they're usually the first to appear to spoil everything ... they should be jumping on this one to troll the police while at the same time gain a bit of social sympathy from the masses.

I saw a thing about NYC having a lookalike contest?

For my part, I intend to aid with the investigation. I saw someone in suspicious headwear who I suspect may be involved.

[–] n0clue@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

I for one don't believe he acted alone

[–] metaStatic@kbin.earth 22 points 1 week ago

They don't need any help looking like idiots. Not getting involved is the correct choice here.

It's funny because 2010 internet would have tried to find this guy no matter the circumstances. I'm glad the enamor of social media has worn off so that "not your army" is completely internalized.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

nah, fuck them pigs. they wouldn't go through this much effort to find your killer, who cares about a millionaire.

Maybe if the guy wasn't such a piece of shit the pigs wouldn't be the only ones trying to solve his murder.
