General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I hate this government more by the day. Cleverly even said more bullshit about stopping boats, the cunt.

I mean, considering 5 people died today due to them, I really think they should be stopped

Oh don't be disingenuous.

There is a complete difference between stopping small boats by targeting the actual problem, and stopping small boats by deporting people to Rwanda.

If the government actually cared about stopping small boats they'd reopen safe migration routes. If you're going to be a government chill, at least be good at it.

To be fair, most people I talk to in the real world about this issue want the Royal Navy to just sink the boats 😂 It's a bit harsh, but the Rwanda plan seems pretty moderate compared to the general opinion.

You should remind those people that the Rwanda deal is two way, the UK is taking vulnerable refugees from Rwanda in exchange.

So that would embolden them further? 🤣

International law needs changing.

It's being horrifically exploited.

As international law is basically a collection of agreements. That is sorta the plan.

I cannot see anything better ever happening.
