The states want the power to choose[s] for themselves what they do

big-honk what do they choose?

People from San Francisco like to act cultured but see how vicious they get if you mention homeless people

POV: you have suggested social housing programs to a San Fanciscan

page me when the highly developed enclaves of smug, wealthy lordlings aren't interdependent on the dislocated and abused workers of the slums, ghettos, and sacrifice zones.

Just as much fancy Euro beer gets exported to the US as fancy US beer gets exported to Europe.

This mf thinks Stella is fancy.

There are beers from Wisconsin that are really excellent but not exported to even other states, much less other countries.

Maybe that's what they meant, but then again that'd also be praising Midwesterners for doing something right so who knows?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It’s not every craft brewery, but I know some export. I’ve talked to Brits who’ve seen Brooklyn Brewery in the pubs in their country.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Oh, definitely. I just know of some in Wisconsin particularly that aren't even able to export outside the state but are really excellent.

I'm just thinking that's maybe the kind of beer they had in mind.

New Glarus beer do be pretty good

[–] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

That's the one.

Ah yes the old “America is like a bunch of different countries in one! Look at all the different words we use for soda” stupidity.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 8 months ago

In this city the pizza is this thick, and in this other city the pizza is this thick! It’s like being in a completely different country!

[–] [email protected] 32 points 8 months ago

What are the odds this person thinks China/Russia is a monolith?

Actually, we don't even need to go that far, they literally treat Europe as a monolith in this comment lol, americas think they are the only diverse country in yhe world

[–] [email protected] 32 points 8 months ago

From the bay area.

Wish they woulda said that at the beginning so I could have just stopped reading there

[–] [email protected] 25 points 8 months ago

There's so very much wrong with this, but the part I noticed that I think is funny is this person is incensed that non-americans treat the US as a monolith but in this post they are treating Europe as a monolith! "Euro beer", "I love Europe and have friends there", "smug Europeans". This very post is hypocritical in the extreme! Hilarious

"No you see America isn't bad it's just made up of a bunch of states that are bad"

I’ve been to the Bay Area and outside of the San Francisco city center it’s pretty indistinguishable from the American south which I’ve been all over. Southerners are constantly being shat on but as one I know we deserve it, America is horrible.

Guys, don’t worry, he’s a leftist!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

no pity for the majority

I like KMFDM too but listening to them doesn't really make you leftist by itself.

Having lived in CA and the midwest I can very comfortably say a vast number of Americans are bigots no matter where you live.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 months ago (1 children)

the most openly bigoted people I've ever met were in California lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 8 months ago

Same, in the Midwest even when they frothe and seethe and make threats or yell slurs its weak childish shit vs the worst I've seen in CA. Also never had an potential employer call me back just to go on an unhinged transphobic rant to my face instead of just tell me I was rejected over phone, or instead of interview they tell me "we don't hire people like you here", they just ghost, and I find out through the rumor mill the reason. Supposedly CA has laws to protect trans people naive fools tell me on the internet, never believing shit, not if its verbal.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Kinda with them, but less whiny. There are cultures, foods, and artforms within America that absolutely rock. I'm not gonna knock on Blues music or Cajun food because America is the Devil.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Europeans also tend to vastly underestimate the size of the US. Just lots of land here.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 8 months ago

This is every New York transplant I’ve met. I love when they tell me about my own country and culture because they talked to some Guatemalan immigrants lmao

Even the enclaves that still speak the language talk like old people because their language never developed past when it was first passed down to them.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 8 months ago

So basically a whine where at the end the person does to Europe exactly what he complains the euros do to the US?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

A burger lander who’s been to Europe many times? Sounds bougie to me

People like this are my managers I have to directly report to them

The other day BART ran late and it gave my manager ammo to go on a "train bad car good" tirade

I hate the bay, I hate myself.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Famously, nobody has ever been made late by something unexpected while driving their car. Nope. Never.
