Not sure about sales, but Gibson pretty heavily markets on the boomer nostalgia/“prestige” factor. Their line up is stale, the don’t adjust for modern specs and features younger guitarists are looking for. They’re not bad guitars, but the prices are inflated relative to the quality.

Perfect example, they recently released a recreation of the ‘59 humbuckers, for a thousand dollars. Not a whole guitar, just pickups. There’s no good reason for pickup set to be over like $400, maybe $500 dollars .

Hell, the way I played Civ II back in the day was to build up massive wealth stores, keep bribing opposing civilizations’ cities to rebel, then once they were down to only a city or two I’d switch to communism and then invade them and win.

But because it’s always The Most Important Election Of Our Generation and the Republican candidate is always the most extreme of all time, they can’t say “This Republican candidate isn’t great but he’s far from the worst.”

Either they don’t understand where political power comes from, or they entirely understand and are trying to convince everyone else “no no, political power comes from the pomp and circumstance of the ceremony, really, we promise.”
