Finding myself on my own this Christmas day. Which is cool (just happens that the social bits are Chrismas eve and boxing day this year).

I am thinking of gifting myself a fancy lunch out. Has anyone done this solo? I am a not afraid to dine alone but worried about being a weirdo on Christmas. Any recommendations? I was looking at the state library but it's pretty expensive even for a treat.

Not weird at all. When this happens to me, I usually do a picnic on a nice part of a river, take a bottle of champers and a book I've been saving up for the occasion. And I don't hold back on the picnic. The best of everything.
Your local church/charity usually does a free xmas lunch - you might like to volunteer to help dish out/up (whatever).

They are a Melbourne institution, and bloody great. The crowd is always very friendly too. Wish I could go actually...
