I for one believe that we should leverage the power of our community by offering tax credits to businesses that join a Housing Roundtable.

I really used to care about the oppressed, but that stopped after someone hurt my feelings.

Hope you're happy when I start saying slurs next week. It's all you're fault.

Fucking annoyed, comrades. In my local vegan group, some reactionary said some bigoted shit in the chat. Pls let me not doxx myself and give too much info, but it was something that would get an immediate ban from Hexbear or any progressive subreddit.

The admin DM'd me. "I know that you're passionate about [oppressed marginalised group], but can you delete your comment". The guy fucked posted literal pages in his defense of saying bigoted shit, but I posted 8 words calmly saying that it wasn't cool. The vibe I'm getting is that the admin is fine with it and probably secretly on his side.

The thing is, everyone hates this guy. Outside of his terrible opinions, he's a massive knobhead, and he's very unfun to hang out with. Women hate him because he's a creep. He's not worth defending.

Edit: maybe it's easy to ignore my opinion because I'm a tankie, but this is 1990's bigotry, not the secret 5D racism that Fascists used to have to deploy to get past Twitter bans.

You know what? I'd listen to a lot more local bands if they had "death to Amerikkka" in their lyrics.

Here's the concert

I've been hearing the words that you've been saying. You've been mentioning for a while that you're upset at my actions. I do respect your opinion and your experience. That's why I'm here to say this.

That's why I want to say that I'm sorry that your feelings were hurt.

Phew, that was hard. But it's a bit of a relief for me to say it. I hope that it starts to bring the same feeling of closure for you.

I do really apologise that you got so upset. I didn't think beforehand about how sensitive you are. But now that it's happened, I absolutely regret not noticing how much of an easily aggrieved person you are.

It's fair to say that no one is perfect. I certainly can attest that this definitely applies to me. God is the only perfect being, and certainly I am no God.

My first mistake was not deliberating with my thoughts before interacting with such a melodramatic person. I'll have to be more careful about this going forward.

My parents were strict but loving people. They taught me right from wrong. And when I was wrong, there's no point in trying to deny it. As dad always said, "not admitting a mistake is the biggest mistake you can make."

And I'm here, my heart and mind open, admitting to you that I was wrong. I was wrong to forget what an total crybaby you are about things. I was wrong to imagine that you'd have any sort of adult response to normal things. And definitely I was dead wrong in thinking that you'd miss an opportunity to blow things out of proportion, yet again.

We good?

There was zero chance of anyone being alive in that sub after six days, and there was basically nothing that could have pulled it to the surface from such a depth.

we can just respect that this is a tragedy and those families deserve to morne without their relatives

lol, says guy justifying the lack of effort in trying to save those people. I'd rather a living relative than "mourne".

The number of structurally deficient bridges is actually down by about 7,000 from 2017, but those bridges weren't fixed. The number fell because the Federal Highway Administration weakened the standards of what it means for a bridge to be deficient, the report explains.

joker-amerikkklap

The collapse of a bridge earlier this week in Tennessee is raising new alarms about the delicate state of infrastructure across the U.S.

8 years ago, the bridge was called "structurally deficient", although I don't know if anything changed since then.

It was called one of Amerika's scariest bridges for truckers 3 years ago. People have called it "high and tight".

Thereby making claims against actual, right wing, real nazi shit antisemitism less credible. I feel like they don't care, because incidence of actual antisemitism in the West would strengthen Israel. Also actual antisemites tend to be Israel's biggest supporters.

I haven't seen so much effort put into a set in years. This would decent if it wasn't so damn propogandistic. Of course the message is "communism hates science".

From the Netflix science-fiction series Three Body Problem

I'm seeing this fucking article everywhere. Capital loves this so hard.

The asshole didn't publish his findings. There's no link anywhere to the article. I did a good faith search in Google Scholar and Pubmed, and can't find his findings. He's going to present his findings to a fucking conference in a months time. For those of you who don't know, the bar of entry to academic conferences is much lower than an academic journal. ECCMID isn't even a prestigious conference, they'll accept nearly everyone that submits and pays. Conferences are considered just the beginning of the scientific journey, before the research goes further and gets actual peer review in an actual journal.

For those of you who don't know, John Gerrard was brought in as chief health minister to Queensland specifically to transition to open the country up and forget about COVID. Nearly 100% of the COVID cases and deaths happened after his tenure started. Fuck him

Sorry for the pedantic formatting, but this upsets me so hard.

Since I was a kid, I failed so hard at being a guy. I've always been hopeless at athletics. My body type has always been pretty meek (let me not doxx myself and say more). I hate any sort of competitive environment. I can't hold my liquor for shit. I have a very high pitched voice and an expressive way of talking. Friends have described my voice as a "gay twang". My mum probably assumed that I was gay from day one, as I got a lot of "it's OK to be gay" from her growing up. Sadly I had too much soy or not enough soy, because I grew up attracted to women.

Maybe you old comrades remember, but schools in the 90s were full of homophobia. "That's so gay" criticised any action that deviated from some masculine ideal. I got this multiple times a day, and I learned to stifle my personality to avoid the rebuke of my male non-friends. I'm not even complaining, there's so so many that had it way worse than I did.

Nowadays it's great being a flamboyant straight dude. I can be as sweet, as empathetic, and as expressive as I want. I have cute and colourful clothing. I get really ecstatic around animals. I cry. People like me for being fun and engaged with stuff. Nowadays if some guy colleague says that's "gay" it's like lea-huh "are you alright mate??"

I did go some LGBT events and actions in the past, but not a lot. If I do anything positive, it's to enforce no homophobic language with my students, which guys has gotten a lot easier in the past 20 years. Really, the kids nowadays are much better than we were. OK, I have hooked up with a few dudes here and there, but it feels like stolen valour to call myself bi.

So thanks a whole lot to all the queer people who have made my life much easier, when I've done so little.

Western Leftists, it's 100% your fault that Joe Biden isn't a tankie.

Sorry, but after 5 minutes, I had to stop and skim the transcript. Although in fairness, he ends it with don't put too much emphasis on electoralism which is correct.

"I don't get it. People are out and about, like the war is somewhere far away. But this is a full-scale invasion, and it's like people still don't care," Pavlo says.

I wish they could employ this level of urgency for climate change or COVID, not for a regional conflict with a majority Russian population.

I applaud OP for the the citations and research. I appreciate his linking to the UNHRC report, but nowhere in that report does it mention "genocide". I'd honestly like people to compare it to multiple UNHRC reports on US treatment of its black population.

I'm no expert, maybe China is taking an overly heavy hand in Xinjiang. But to call it a genocide when no evidence exists for mass killing, and when the US war on terror lead to 5 million actual deaths, is absurd projection and and diminishes the value of the word "genocide".
