I find myself needing to read things that don’t have emotional weight for me. I have noticed that most of the articles and sites I frequent when I’m bored, even the previously neutral-feeling ones, are bringing up Tough Feelings for me lately. I need less triggering stuff to waste time looking at, when I’m too tired for fiction but too wired to sleep. Got any recommendations for interesting, but not fraught, websites/nonfiction/longreads?

Last year I started reading Tom Breihan's The Number Ones column on Stereogum from the very beginning. I finally caught up sometime in September and really enjoyed it. Keep in mind that since it's about the world of popular music and the people who make it, there can be some occasionally dark topics that show up in the articles, but they're not really lingered on.

As for singular articles, this one about a pedestrian bridge in Minneapolis is a fun one, if you like solving mysteries about seemingly pointless things.

And here's an oldie but goodie, an article from 2007 about a woman who accidentally finds out she's a world champion Tetris player.
