I fucking hate it too.

Anything not immediately profitable or would require residuals gets dumped, everything else gets hoarded until the only legal source is proprietary gated and then… possibly gets ditched anyway.

Yeah also the fragmentation and hot potatoing of ‘content’ to try and make you sign up for all of them.

Makes me sick, and thankful I have some physical media I love. I have a triple DVD of The Mummy 1 and 2 and The Scorpion King, as well as Aladdin and The King of Theives, my fav Aladdin/Disney movie. Rogue One and the original trilogy (the only ones that are canon to me lol). I just need the extended editions of Lotr and I'll be set for life I think.

I stopped using Netflix during the lockdowns, when we noticed the enshittification encroaching. Now none of those services are worth the price of admission or subscription. 🤢

I really should have paid more attention but had bigger fish to fry.

Time to diversify entertainment into as much cheap/free non-consumer stuff as possible :/
