If you're willing to abandon your ideals for any reason, then you never really had them
Right? And this triangulation bullshit rarely if ever has utility value, to boot. What did the Dems get from 30-40 years of triangulation!?
Everything the Republicans wanted. Which meant the Republicans had to find new things to want. Meaning it's time for more triangulation!
Roe died under a Democrat government!
Sacrifices for protecting democracy!
Average lib then
Exactly
Liberals really believe there's no such thing as negotiation, compromise, or long-term strategy. They don't believe in undermining your opponents either. They don't believe in temporarily alliances that only exist so you can screw over your competition later. They will brow beat us about how Lenin said to vote for liberal parties, but miss the part about how he meant voting for parties that are allied with socialist parties.
The only thing liberals believe is abandoning your ideals at the slightest provocation and becoming a standard conservative.
It often happens, however, that thinking lags behind reality; this is because man's cognition is limited by numerous social conditions. We are opposed to die-herds in the revolutionary ranks whose thinking fails to advance with changing objective circumstances and has manifested itself historically as Right opportunism. These people fail to see that the struggle of opposites has already pushed the objective process forward while their knowledge has stopped at the old stage. This is characteristic of the thinking of all die-herds. Their thinking is divorced from social practice, and they cannot march ahead to guide the chariot of society; they simply trail behind, grumbling that it goes too fast and trying to drag it back or turn it in the opposite direction.
We are also opposed to "Left" phrase-mongering. The thinking of "Leftists" outstrips a given stage of development of the objective process; some regard their fantasies as truth, while others strain to realize in the present an ideal which can only be realized in the future. They alienate themselves from the current practice of the majority of the people and from the realities of the day, and show themselves adventurist in their actions.

You need to be able to see the whole situation and understand what current conditions require to advance to your ultimate ideal. If you’re not willing to make concessions for a future victory you are as lost as someone with no ideals.
Yes, but given that the US is in a more advanced stage of production, that means there are more radical possibilities than in Maoist China, not less. And this holds despite the woeful state of class consciousness.
If making concessions to the democrat party hadn't been tried many times in the past only for them to keep none of their promises, you would have a good point. However, American leftists have been burnt so many times trying this that one must seriously question its efficacy.
