Non-essential crypto news covers crypto advertisement, insignificant news that does not affect legit users like XMR/ETH/BTC holders or darknet users, posts relating to garbage like Brave browser and its coin, and so on. Due to the multiple kinds of crypto posts that pop up, this rule will be applied subjectively on a case-by-case basis.

Community complaints about Elon Musk were raised here. https://lemmy.ml/post/7186058

A lot of ad and spam posts appear regularly, which need to be squashed. This will be enforced more heavily from now on.

Sometimes legitimate products are advertised, which should be allowed to post. This will be checked per case basis, and unless asked for permission, all such posts will be removed without notice.

The Enshittification may have begun of this service too.

I'm actually a paying customer myself of Chat Gpt, and I havent personally seen any ads. But it's bad enough if this is something that will start to appear in people's answers.

Anyone else experienced this?

Update: The reason for this was found and it wasn't the service itself that started doing this.

Hi, we're a tech startup run by libertarian Silicon Valley tech bros.

We're not a newspaper, we're a content portal.
We're not a taxi service, we're a ride sharing app.
We're not a pay TV service, we're a streaming platform.
We're not a department store, we're an e-commerce marketplace.
We're not a financial services firm, we're crypto.
We're not a space agency, we're a group of visionaries who are totally going to Mars next year.
We're not a copywriting and graphic design agency, we're a large language model generative AI platform.

Oh sure, we compete against those established businesses. We basically provide the same goods and services.

But we're totally not those things. At least from a legal and PR standpoint.

And that means all the laws and regulations that have built up over the decades around those industries don't apply to us.

Things like consumer protections, privacy protections, minimum wage laws, local content requirements, safety regulations, environmental protections... They totally don't apply to us.

Even copyright laws — as long as we're talking about everyone else's intellectual property.

We're going to move fast and break things — and then externalise the costs of the things we break.

We've also raised several billion in VC funding, and we'll sell our products below cost — even give them away for free for a time — until we run our competition out of the market.

Once we have a near monopoly, we'll enshitify the hell out of our service and jack up prices.

You won't believe what you agreed to in our terms of service agreement.

We may also be secretly hoarding your personal information. We know who you are, we know where you work, we know where you live. But you can trust us.

By the time the regulators and the general public catch on to what we're doing, we will have well and truly moved on to our next grift.

By the way, don't forget to check out our latest innovation. It's the Uber of toothpaste!

The author may be a right-wing fellow. Nonetheless, the data he exposes are taken from official Mozilla docs.

A couple hours before I was on the edge of getting a Fairphone 5 but I read the specifications and didn't see 3.5 mm audio jack anywhere. So I thought to myself...why? The community has been requesting this for a couple years ago now so why not. They're already making money on the phone, they're really pushing for people to get their wireless headphones? Just add the headphone jack, shouldn't be too hard.

They said they're treating their workers fairly, sourcing from ethical sources, renewable claims, repairability claims, and supporting foss projects (they donated a fp4 to CalyxOS to support development). All of these are amazing, so adding a little headphone jack shouldn't be that hard in the grand scheme of all this.

*Add the headphone jack and I'll be happy to support and get a fp5.

If lemmy had user-defined filters, I'd use them. Right now I'm downvoting the stuff, but there's already a community for musk-related stuff: [email protected]

Not a good look for Mastodon - what can be done to automate the removal of CSAM?

tr:dr; he says "x86 took over the server market" because it was the same architecture developers in companies had on their machines thus it made it very easy to develop applications on their machines to then ship to the servers.

Now this, among others he made, are very good points on how and why it is hard for ARM to get mainstream on the datacenter, however I also feel like he kind lost touch with reality on this one...

He's comparing two very different situations, more specifically eras. Developers aren't so tied anymore like they used to be to the underlaying hardware. The software development market evolved from C to very high language languages such as Javascript/Typescript and the majority of stuff developed is done or will be done in those languages thus the CPU architecture becomes irrelevant.

Obviously very big companies such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon are more than happy to pay the little "tax" to ensure Javascript runs fine on ARM than to pay the big bucks they pay for x86..

What are your thoughts?

X terms of service has right to take back username. X ported his followers over to new account at least, he said. Vaught is still using X, though he did set up account on Threads and Mastodon.

Twitter’s new X logo wasn’t made by an in-house designer. It’s from an old podcast hosted by one of the cult that Elon took from his replies.
