It works with a smaller (450KB) image ~

There is a correlation with file size. The picture I tried to upload was particularly big - about 20MB I think - so I probably should have downsized it anyway. There was no problem with uploading the few KB big screenshot.

Interesting, I did not know about pict-rs. Thank you, I will just try again, maybe with a downsized version of the picture.

Do you also have image upload issues sometimes? I have posted a screenshot of how it looks when it fails. It is a known bug -> https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1489

Do you maybe know how to get around it, and still be able to upload the image?

Inside the home even.

Thank you very much for this post! It helped me a lot. I suggest caution with using browse.feddit.de though. They do not include all instances - like for example my home instance reddthat.com - you might miss a great community because of that.

EDIT: Now reddthat.com is back on the browser again - Instances could get dropped due to long response times or rate-limiting issues, so depending on the time you search you may get different results on the Community Browser.

Yes, I would love to see the signup stats

I am glad having you as an Admin and I think you are making the right decision allowing for different opinions to exist. In the end every user has the ability to block communities and users for themselves.

Looking forward to finally being able to block whole instances. Will it come with a future version of Lemmy?

Maybe they have some little niche communities they do not want to just abandon.

That is why I still use reddit - when you have a really niche hobby or interest and finally discover a community of people that you can share the joy of that interest with, that feels great - you do not want to lose that community that you have longed for for so long.

I am part of some niche communities that have an activity level and a user base that is hard to beat on reddit. I am doing my part here on Lemmy and created local c/dolls and c/denpasong communities on my home instance, but of course nobody is interested here on Lemmy. I am giving Lemmy some time of course, but I am afraid that I will stay lonely with my little communities here on Lemmy unfortunately.
