It's from a period of film when multiplex cinema was exploding, there was so much demand for scripts that indy movies thrived. Six Degrees was so. much. talking. Which I could see how that made it feel like 70s movies a bit I guess.

Edit: same for Slackers.

Edit 2: oh, and The Last Supper

Ngl, taking a couple of casual transphobia pills along with your schadenfreude isn't a good look.

Lookin at some of you, commenters.

...does not qualify as a true woman

What absolute rubbish. You're no more qualified to judge that than a sparrow -- which happens to have more genders and more brains than you, apparently.

Blocked.

We need him here though. He keeps getting elected, and keeps shutting down the R pushback in the house. He's a huge asset to MN and it would suck to lose him.

Walz is a large part of why this "traditional Midwestern" Minnesota is a transgender sanctuary state.

Kids in cages, kids taken from parents and put up for adoption

Outing of all undercover ops in Russia (who were then jailed or murdered)

Installing the most corrupt supreme court justice since the 19th century

Attempted violent overthrow of the government

Ivermectin, "inject a little bleach..."

And that's just off the top of my head without coffee

Was doing this on a small local lake last year on a cool rainy day with crew aboard, and a passersby almost called 911. Calls of "overboard!" ringing out and a person on the cabin roof pointing while we drove around in circles and figure-8s ...

Maybe this year I'll switch to "overboard drill!"

I'm going to get roasted for this, but even knowing HR is an advocate for capital / management, part of their job is removing some of the shittiest parts of sharing a workspace with bigots and bullies. Even if it is just to lower their liability exposure.

To whit : a (less than genius) dude posted on (coupla companies ago) corp chat app some shit about trans athletes in grade school, and I replied "as a trans person this feels threatening," and that shit was gone and I never heard from him again.

I make aeropress at home, been my go-to for years. My taste in beans never really left the 90s though I do enjoy a fruity brew once in a while.

I know where the best dry cortado w/ oat-milk is in the Minneapolis - St Paul area.

A soft spot for a not-too-sweet miel.

Help me plan my "can't regret not doing that" coffee list?

Edit to answer some similar questions all at once: I'm not going to talk about my medical situation here, but yes, it was at the advice of a doctor. Decaf is a possibility, but I e been down that road before and it tastes like disappointment, even with today's improvements; maybe once in a while, though.

Cross-posting here from YSK.

The Great Race is better on pretty much every dimension than Airplane! – comedic timing, joke density, meme-ability, sound track, cringe-resistance… It’s just, better. It holds up better, too.

They are admittedly very different movies, both really well done. But TGR has absolutely epic production that’s not necessarily obvious on the surface. The big fist fight, for instance – the moment when Leslie stage dives is choreographed with so much detail, and most of the stunts in that shot are tossed aside like croutons, but absolutely make the scene.

Another thing is that TGR never winks at the camera, despite being pretty campy. That's a feat!

Last but not least: the best pie fight in screen history

The title is the post.

Really, you need to know: The Great Race is better on pretty much every dimension than Aeroplane -- comedic timing, joke density, meme-ability, sound track, cringe-resistance... It's just, better.

sorry, I mean, if you didn't have to worry about food, housing, healthcare. I just edited the title to reflect that.

Re-creating this thread a different server.

edit: "not work" as in "food, housing, and healthcare needs are met," not as in "billionaire super-villain money"

I would sail sail the great lakes for weeks at a time.

I would write more music, and hire musicians to play it with me.

I would spend half the summer growing food (which I already do!)

I would continue to invest in my own mental health, but spend more time meditating.

I have chronic fatigue (to simplify a longer story), and spending that precious energy solving logic puzzles for a paycheck is sometimes pretty demoralizing.
