Awesome, thanks! I'll probably start with the humble bundle then. I've also heard good things about eisenhorn so may give that a go as well.

I'd like to try reading some fiction in the 40k universe and was wondering if anyone has some recommendations. There's a lot of books to decide between so I'm a bit lost. There's also the humble book bundle going on right and it looks like it might be a good deal, but I'm not familiar with any of the authors. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Edit: following the advice in the responses, I got the humble bundle and am starting out with spear of the emperor. Thanks for all the advice! Definitely want to give eisenhorn a read sometime if I can find an epub at a good price.

According to their careers page, they have about 60 employees. And, knowing japanese game dev salaries, a lot of those devs (excluding senior devs) probably make around 30-50k a year depending on seniority unless it's a unicorn company.

You can enable them in about:config if you search vertical.

Edit: to be more specific, the setting is 'sidebar.verticalTabs'

The big cities are walkable / have good transport, but the countryside is inaccessible without a car for the most part.

How is Japan going to do that by 2035? Almost nobody has a garage, and there are no charging spaces at the parking spots most people are forced to rent (you need one within 2km of your residence). I haven't heard of any mandate to get charging spots installed at these rental parking areas, and then there's the issue of how electricity would be billed. Electric cars are for the very wealthy right now ( in Japan ).

I wish the game was as good as the cinematics

I don't really know what I'll do. I currently have to dual boot windows 10 for work since I do unreal game dev. I guess push for managers to allow me to setup a Linux dev env? But Linux binaries for third party plugins arent always there. That's where I got stuck last time I tried.

I think there are a multitude of reasons for why it may not be doing well, but personally I had no clue it was coming out this month, I don't trust my PC to be able to run it (rtx 3070 isn't enough for a lot of high fidelity games these days), and I got hellblade 1 at full price and beat it in under 6 hours. I'm looking forward to playing it at a lower price and on better hardware in 4 years or something.

They had (still have?) some creepy humanoid bunny / dog sculptures in golden gate park. Freaked me out taking a midnight walk when I was visiting!

(Sorry for the blurry photo)

As a game dev in Japan, I can tell you nobody I've met has given any concern to pc ports, and it has been a royal pita to get anybody to care to the point of making me question staying in the industry.

The US seems to primarily still use sms. I've heard it's tied to having unlimited messaging phone plans being the norm, so people weren't as drawn to other platforms.

First time touching paints in ages, and first time ever doing a miniature. Been having a lot of fun painting the starter kit after work. I'd like to try shading when I finish them all up.

I was struggling a lot with the first layer since the paint wouldn't stick, so I got a Tamiya primer for the space Marines. I think I may have over sprayed a bit since there's some paint that was pooling in the pauldrons.

I've also had trouble getting to some of the tighter spots on the model, especially the 4 guys on one base (the book is in japanese so I don't know the names). Nevertheless having lots of fun! Looking forward to making a kill team or doing one of the board games since I don't have anyone to play with out here.

I wish I could fully abandon my windows partition, but sadly my sim racing peripherals don't all work on Linux, and I bought those before I started thinking about switching.
