Whatever happened to cocaine and vibrator treatments?

We replaced about 60-70% of our backyard with native plants, trees, and shrubs. It was a shit ton of work but I saw a hummingbird for the first time in my life! And moths mimicking hummingbirds. And friendly bees. And weird beetles. And other birds galore. I rarely have to water.

Now our preschooler has room to roam and so so much to explore (and weird bugs to chase mom around with).

I had the urge while out the other day and had to wipe, like a peasant. Bidets should be a right in the kingdom.

The original prompter of the trans women thread posted a chart purportedly showing that Grok was even more left-leaning than Chat GPT, which led Elon to say that while the chart “exaggerates” and that the tests aren’t accuarte, they are “taking immediate action to shift Grok closer to politically neutral.”

See this is the part of AI, like search engines and digital bubbles, that is actually terrifying. When an organic result is manipulated to fit and amplify a narrative without the users knowledge. Where your data comes from matters.

But if the food we eat is any sort of bellweather, most people won’t really care or will be so far removed from the source that we’ll be oblivious and just happy to consume.

Known as the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act, the bill seeks to create an “Organized Retail Crime Coordination Center” under the Department of Homeland Security. The authors of the bill claim that “organized retail crime…has been a growing concern to retailers, industry, and law enforcement.” The center, the bill says, will oversee “federal law enforcement efforts related to organized retail crime” and align these activities with state and local investigations. Its director would be appointed by the head of ICE.

This sounds eerily similar to the creation of TSA and the federalization of air security.

They’ve already shored up the courts. They’re not far off.

For all the sex appeal she was supposed to add to the show, she really is an extraordinary actress and a fascinating character.

The episode where she shifts between all the species the Borg have assimilated shows her exceptional range.

This has, disappointingly, always been the inevitable truth. The same technology that propels us also further binds us. Today, it’s facial recognition. Well before that, our phone and web data, license plate scanners, employee badges, credit card usage could reasonably track and expose us.

The tech itself isn’t harmful, it’s how it’s used that causes harm. People need and absolutely deserve protection - perhaps through legislation. The unfortunate thing is that responding to hysteria only handicaps technology we don’t yet fully understand.

And even if it stays small, the quality and community here is thriving. Sure, we have our trolls and junk but they don’t have nearly the influence or visibility as…ahem…other familiar platforms.

Incredibly and with a perfectly straight face, they’d dog him for his mental and physical health.

Bold and optimistic of the artist to assume humanity would thrive for that long.

Though I imagine that very thought is more likely the purpose of the art.

Link to study: American Academy of Neurology

After adjusting for factors such as age, sex and race, as well as health-related factors such as high blood pressure and diabetes, researchers found people who had been taking acid reflux drugs for more than 4.4 years had a 33% higher risk of developing dementia than people who never took the drugs.
