The github docker-compose file calls out pixelfed:pixelfed as the image, but nothing exists when trying to pull it: https://hub.docker.com/r/pixelfed/pixelfed/tags

Is there a official (or unofficial) image that should be used that is compatible with the sample docker-compose setup (and runs on ARM): https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/dev/docker-compose.yml

Also...DON'T MAKE TOO MANY COMMUNITIES!!! I know we all have our favorite niche subreddits that we'll miss, but we need to reach a critical mass with a core set...and then organically break out communities into more niche communities.

Definitely have backup passphrase/passkey. But is it true that (again assuming just one device) if I log out.....then later log back in with the Passkey....that messages received while signed out won't decrypt? That will be hard to explain to family.

Been having issues with folks logging out...then unable to decrypt after signing in again. Even tho they use their passkey, prior messages will not decrypt as they were not logged in anywhere.

So trying to understand some use-cases:

  • If someone is only logged-in on their phone, go somewhere without a signal (e.g., plane, hiking), and then get signal again...will they be able to decrypt messages sent while they were offline (but never chose to sign-out)?
  • If NO....will they be able to decrypt prior messages they had been able to decrypt (i.e., just not the ones sent while offline)?
  • If they lose their phone (again, only source of logging in)...will they be able to backfill messages when setting up a new device with their passkey?

Sorry for the perhaps basic E2EE questions....getting traction with my family using Matrix, but worried about some spouse-acceptance concerns.

Is he born yet?

Do you host any Fediverse instances for family (Mastodon, etc)? Curious if you get your family to use it and what headaches when linking to other instances.

Seems like a nice way to combine group texts, picture sharing, etc

I actually feel more relieved. It has become toxic and dominated by bots. As soon as a real person posts anything, it's immediately down voted

I'm enjoying Lemmy much more. Reminds me of the internet of old.

For sure...and the rhetoric of politicians further that divide with extreme hyperbole. There are a small set people who agree with that...but throughout my domestic (USA) and international travels, they seem to be the fringe. We can't let the loudest people on the extremes dominate the conversation.
