That’s not how evolution works. Traits don’t evolve “to be useful”. Anyone who claims a goal to evolution has failed to grasp evolution.

Evolution converges on local maxima by selecting for traits that are good enough to continuously propagate through the filter of individuals death. For sexual reproduction, if a trait is not bad enough to continuously reduce carriers’ presence in a mating pool, it can and will remain.

It’s survival of not inadequate enough.

Volumetric comparisons end up grossly underrepresenting how much a billion really is. Human brain doesn’t really grasp the magnitude of a difference between a cubic centimeter and a cubic meter.

What we can immediately grasp is a difference between walking across a small parking lot and driving for a bloody hour.

That’s not what you’re saying at all, though. You said:

A dead nazi achieves a lot more than a living one.

What a perfectly fascist way of thinking.

Thorium reactors have a cleverly dumb failsafe. If reactor control fails, there’s a plug that melts and drains the contents into a container that’s not fit for runoff neutron generation.

That’s an example of a failsafe that fits its purpose. It’s still possible to fuck it up, but it would take a lot of effort to do so.

And if there’s a bug in that code, you’re fucked.

Safety features should work if everything else fails. Their failure mode can’t be “fuck it, it didn’t work”. Which is directly opposite to the failure mode of a subscription based service.

Cool. Here’s to no one starting measuring your solo work time in place of your project completion count 🍺

Additionally, Ukraine is an example of protests working. A dangerous precedent to set for a country whose national myth claims that “Ukrainians are weird Russians”.

Moreover, “deep work” is a bullshit claim. Working solo long sessions without communicating is not an indication of… anything, really. The moment “deep work” becomes a trend, some idiot will start measuring it, making it yet another counterproductive way to torture people.

Measure business outcomes and implement changes that don’t fall victims to Goodhart’s law. If a director can think of a way to game a measure, workers will think of ten.

The don’t and they do.

Some myths are just clingier than a tick embedded in a hair follicle.

You would think so.

Hating other people, not hating people. That one word is important.
