For me it's when you click your account icon at the top left. Then it's right above the Ultra subscription

Und hier ich war denkend, dass wir den Rundfunkbeitrag nur bezahlen, damit sich die Führungsebene der öffentlich rechtlichen auch ganz ohne Wettbewerb die Taschen vollstopfen können :(

It really isn't. It's an X. There's not much to it.

It's a shit name, it's a shit logo, it's a shit platform. But it's far from a copyright infringement. Especially because no-one will confuse the cesspool named Twitter X with a window manager for unix systems

This post itself is not an ad for Nikon nor is it an anti-AI post. I do like ai. I also like how Circus Grey Peru and Nikon put a genius twist on it for a company that sells devices to capture reality as it is.

The campaign features real images from various places around the world overlaid with an image generation prompt that could be used to create a similar looking image. There is also information about the real life location of where the photo was taken in the bottom left corner and a text reading "Don't give up on the real world" in the bottom right.

I normally don't want to post any kinds of ads here because fuck ads (even if they're technically good media). So this post will very likely be the only "ad" post here, because I also want to know what you think about the topic.

Also most ads these days are hot fucking garbage so they aren't worth posting anyway.

Image transcription: The image is split into two parts. The top shows a scene from the folk horror movie "Midsommar" (written and directed by Ari Aster). It is a cropped still of the female protagonist wearing a headpiece made out of flowers and a white dress with blue details. The person is tilting their head and is looking towards the camera. The bottom part is an old painting showing another female person with a headpiece made out of plants. Both have very similar poses and facial expressions.

Image transcription: The image shows a person sitting on a giant exotic bird flying over a waterfall with rocky, rounded cliffs and a few boats at the top.

"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't fucking do this anymore."

*proceeds to pull its own plug*

The image is a still from an animated short film showing a person holding up a light blue tile. The person looks more like a silhouette with only some distinct facial features visible. The background is a radial gradient in the colors of a sunset.

The image shows a grid of 35mm analog black and white photos. Each image shows a cropped part of the Eiffel tower. The photos are arranged in a way so that the parts combine to form a new, distorted Eiffel tower. The columns and rows are separated by the black unexposed parts of the film which were left in. The film edge markings are visible as white text on these borders.

Just a little clever design for an otherwise very minimalistic portfolio site.

The image is a screenshot of a website. The website consists of black text on a white background. At the top is a navigation bar with links to the homepage, the current page ("colors") and an "about"-page with more information. In the center below the navigation is a slider from 1000 Kelvin to 10000 Kelvin. The slider is set to 3400K. Below the slider is a grid of images with 4 columns. The images all feature a slightly warm tone. The grid expands further outside of the screenshot.

Posy is a very inspirational youtube channel covering various random topics and phenomena in the context of computers, hifi and other forms of media.

The most recent video "Dots" is about the various halftone-patterns found in print. Some other favorites of mine include the video about "Terragen Classic" (an old piece of software to render landscapes) and his video about the design of segmented displays. Both are linked below:

An array of light kinetic sculptures with a man standing in front of them.

ZERO was a german group of artists founded 1958 by Heinz Mack and Otto Piene. After the second world war they saw postwar art as "freighted with an excess of ballast". They wanted to have a new beginning, an hour ZERO, which was meant to be free from everything that was in the past.

They began to make mostly monochromatic pieces of art that were meant to be completely separated from nihilism or any dadaistic works.

The group disbanded in 1966 because the artistic and biographical paths of its members diverged.

the image is a black and white photograph with a square aspect ratio looking up at a person in the middle of a barren landscape wrapped in what looks like aluminum foil reflecting the sun. The contrast is very high. The gray sky shows a few clouds stretching horizontally across the photo.

there isn't any easy way to reuse old weights

There is! As long as the model structure doesn't change, you can reuse the old weights and finetune the model for your desired task. You can also train smaller models based on larger models in a process called "knowledge distillation". But you're right: Newer, larger models need to be trained from scratch (as of right now)

But even then it's not really a problem to keep ai data out of a dataset. As you said: You can just take an earlier version of the data. As someone else suggested you can also add new data that is being curated by humans. If inbreeding actually ever happens remains to be seen ofc. There will be a point in time where we won't train machines to be like humans anymore, but rather to be whatever is most helpful to a human. And if that incorporates training on other AI data, well then that's that. Stanford's Alpaca already showed how ressource effective it can be to fine-tune on other AI data.

The future is uncertain but I don't think that AI models will just collapse like that

tl;dr beep boop

"2001: A Space Odyssey" is a cinematic masterpiece that has left an indelible mark on the history of film and storytelling. With its groundbreaking visual effects and meticulously crafted set designs, the film raised the bar for both the science fiction genre and cinematic innovation.

The frame shows the black monolith at the start of the movie with the camera pointing up at the sun and a sky full of clouds. The sun is filling the scene with an orange glow. The moon is in the center of the top third of the frame being illuminated by the sun.

Hey, I actually knew that shortcut! But it never occurred to me that ctrl+arrow just moves the cursor without selecting anything.
