Would that option work with the Mullvad client though or would I need to setup the ovpn files and what not?

I can check the box to allow it but right now the option to select a connection (to the right) is greyed out.

TheFloW's PPPwn GitHub page can be found here but instructions are also posted in the Wololo article linked.

TheFloW has reported this to Sony as part of their bug bounty program and it has been patched in firmware versions beyond 11.

Here is a link to some neat homebrew applications you can try if you do decide to jailbreak your PS4.

Hope this post is fine here. There's nothing about discussing jailbreaks in the sidebar.

Do you have any recommendations on guides how to do the former? I saw posts like this AskUbuntu post but they use the .ovpn files instead of the Mullvad client from my understanding.

I am running EndeavorOS with XFCE 4 and am using Mullvad as my VPN. To be clear I know Mullvad's client has a lockdown and kill switch mode but it seems like after updating it my PC is connecting to the internet without it. I could be mistaken but I don't think it's blocking anything at that point. I would likely have to wait until the next Mullvad update to test this for sure though. If someone can either confirm or deny my suspicions I would greatly appreciate it because I wouldn't have to find another work around.

All that said if that is the case, how can I prevent my PC from connecting to the internet when Mullvad is not running?

Maybe there's a simple option like binding the network manager to mullvad client application? Ideally I'd like to avoid either not using their client and using some thrown-together update script like

#!/bin/bash

xfce4-terminal --command="sudo pacman -Syu";

/opt/Mullvad VPN/mullvad-vpn";

Edit: Maybe it is connecting after the update but not showing the GUI. I came across this post on GitHub

I have a Mullvad desktop app set to launch on start-up. Also "Start minimized" is set to false. At the system start-up I get connected to the VPN, so the Mullvad daemon apparently starts, but no application window launches. I have to launch it manually.

I did not check to see if this was happening after I updated.

I would hold onto it for a bit. If you want to run software that isn't from Steam like the game modding app Vortex for example it can be easier to tinker with it on Windows.

Most of it can run on Windows just fine with Wine or Lutris but you might run into the odd graphical glitch that can be a headache if you are inexperienced especially if you rarely use that application.

For a long time my favorite was Excite Mario Bros.

Excitebike riders, Kirby, and Samus are trying to stop you at every turn from reaching the end of the levels! Here is a full game hack which changes all the levels and graphics. Also the music has been slightly altered to give the original music some change.

Recently though my favorite has become Celeste Mario's Zap & Dash!.

A hastily done minihack (with levels designed within 2 months) that features Celeste-styled gameplay.

It adds dash and wall jump mechanics. I haven't beaten it yet but I am really enjoying the level design.

What about you? Any favorites or recommendations?

Some personal examples that come to mind are:

  • Being late for work because I heard the people in the apartment next to me leave and I waited five minutes so I wouldn't have to share the elevator

  • Cleaning my house for two hours before strategically placing items I can talk about just so I can have a friend of multiple years over and after they left replaying things I said to make sure I didn't say anything embarrassing

  • Not being able to look my Tinder date in the eyes even though we've been talking for a month and we had planned to have relations that evening

  • Spending $200 on a sweater at a craft market because I worked up the courage to ask the price and couldn't bring myself to say no thanks

  • Forgetting something I needed at a store and just leaving because I didn't want to face the cashier

They're all things that are silly in hindsight that I later realised the average person likely wouldn't have done. I know no one would have really cared in these situations.

Just curious what stories people have.

Here are links to the website, GitHub, and Wikipedia pages.

The article I linked is a couple years old but I did a quick search of the community and it doesn't seem to have been mentioned here. Hopefully you find it as neat as I did.

There's also a couple YouTube videos covering it if you have some time to kill.

Some games have decent recaps or disconnected stories which mean you can start from the latest release and still have the full experience.

In Fallout for example, with the 3D games, you can start wherever and because it's a new protagonist and location every time you aren't missing a ton. The disconnect is slightly more noticeable going from Fallout to Fallout 2 (the isometric titles) however because of how the games build on top of each other.

What I am wondering about are series where you really do need to start from the beginning (or some early point) to get the full experience.

Can you think of any examples that are truly difficult?

Maybe they started on DOS, MSX, or the NES and their latest releases are on the PS5 and Xbox Series X and on top of that the genre shifted.

This is obviously going to vary from person to person. Like with The Elder Scrolls series for example. People might argue for different starting points.

For context I am playing The Witcher 2 and I feel like I'm missing a notable part of the story. That might be because it's a fantasy game though and it isn't based in our world.

It made me think of Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. Two popular series where I don't know how interconnected the games are.

Mine was our CRT TV. I would rapidly push the power button on and off because I thought the picture coming and going looked cool but eventually it fell inside of the TV. I think I later stuck a magnet on the TV.

I feel like it leans more into the latter as a kind of tech industry comedy. It stars Rob McElhenney who played Mac in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and I feel like a lot of the humor his character adds is present in Mythic Quest.

I wanted to share this because I was pleasantly surprised by Mythic Quest and I feel like other people who are looking for a lighthearted comedy to watch might enjoy it.

More information can be found on this GitHub page.

I linked the FitMC video because he does a decent job explaining it at a basic level and the SpawnMasons, a 2B2T group, are behind the GitHub post.

The original title of the video was "RANDAR: Minecraft's Most DANGEROUS Exploit" but that was a bit too clickbait for me.

I've seen the Retro Games Corp follow up video and a few others on the device but I can't recall all the info.

The firmware is largely where I'm in the dark. Does it have a proper sleep mode? Any news of custom firmware or updates?

It seems pretty neat and I feel like it would make for an alright pocket device to pair with my RG405M.

Also which colour do you think looks the best?

I was leaning towards the green or red but I saw the black and it looks pretty neat too. I'm wondering which looks good with the green LEDs on the side.

It comes down to price. You can buy used ThinkPads and replacement parts for them quite cheap a lot of the time.

It's been a while since I've looked at devices from places like System 76 but if I recall correctly they are still over a thousand dollars when a used ThinkPad T440P for example can be found for around two hundred dollars.

Dollar stores. A lot of the time they are profiting by selling you a smaller quantity at a slightly lower price. They target low income communities.

There's a sign that says you aren't allowed on top of the bus terminal because of me.

There was grass on the roof and I was curious how they got a lawnmower up there.
