Give it a few months

Phillies fan checking in. Agree. I have a community with a bot that posts game updates like Reddit (which is nice) but the game threads are mainly me posting once or twice and one or two other people with side off comments. No community engagement so to speak. Long way from the Reddit game threads of several thousand comments.

I thought I was gonna be able to quit Reddit full time. Didn’t look for a few days, then did. Still check since some niche communities aren’t over here (or active) yet so I have to go there. But I only still check every few days (I was a several time a day redditor so usage is down) and I’ll check Lemmy at least once or twice a day now.

Hey! I helped do something! You’re wrong about being a 50 year old dead beat mom and dad!

…when’s lunch?

I mean, they aren’t fucking wrong. Half life 3 has a federated communication system built into multiplayer? Go do it Gabe.

[-] [email protected] 32 points 1 year ago

I would at least give them a chance. Meta is DOA.

Honestly, the reason I left Reddit was the 3rd party api bullshit. If they suddenly federated and I could use Lemmy to subscribe to some of their communities / subs again without needing to be subjected to their bullshit ads and 1st party client bullshit, I’d welcome that.

It’s very… basic. One timeline, can’t filter anything out… ton of garbage. No thanks. Holy shit it’s bad.

Threads being federated fascinates me. In one hand, it ends up being a gateway to mastodon / Lemmy for some. People who grumble about how “evil” Twitter / Facebook is but use it anyhow because “that’s where everyone is” may at least have their toes dipped into those concept and some of that may now see leaving as a viable option to something that isn’t evil as long as they can still see that content. It’s still seems to early to tell.

I can’t upvote your shit. Server too overloaded. Another great sign.

Here’s an up arrow to show my support.

Can someone TL;DR the beans? I slept last night and woke up to Lemmy just being beans… wtf.

used this app during the ugly alpha Testflight days. Loved it and how responsive Christian was. When Pro came out I bought it and when Ultra came out I got lifetime.

Any lifetime members make the jump to Lemmy?

Anyone still using Reddit ? What app are you using? I’m on narwhal to check once a day for 5 minutes and I’m done.

Had Christian been able to figure out new pricing with the API, how do you think he would’ve handled Lifetime subscriptions? Create a Apollo 2.0 and say lifetime was only for lifetime of 1.0? Offer a legacy pricing / lifetime only perks to lifetime members?

Literally was given gold on Apollos goodbye post after I thanks Christian and said fuck u/Spez. I had to edit it and tell people to stop spending money on gold. It defeats the fucking purpose.
