Assumption that people keep up with the updates is the reason various attacks are so widespread these days.

Yes. EcoHealth received $3.7m from the NIH, $600,000 of which was given to the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

What are you using? Freetube or something else?

I don't think they store fingerprints. They only use MBID for metadata.

Only if you are on Android 13. There is an open issue for it https://github.com/dessalines/jerboa/issues/755

It can stop the most basic ones, but it's not hard to bypass with optical character recognition (OCR).

There are talks about implementing mCaptcha which would be harder to bypass.

instance.com/search should work. You can also specify search type to be just posts or just comments. Keep in mind that it will only search the posts/comments from communites your instance is linked with (aka at least one person has search for it).

There are multiple options

  • Cloud storage is popular these days (has it's disadvantages)
  • External HDDs (portable, but needs care when moving as simple drop can damage it), I had good results with WD drives
  • External SSDs (overkill for cold storage like you described)
  • Internal HDDs (depending on your PC configuration, can be the best solution, if portability is not a requirement)

Also, for any storage, the 3-2-1 rule is recommened.

It states that there should be at least 3 copies of the data, stored on 2 different types of storage media, and one copy should be kept offsite, in a remote location (this can include cloud storage).

Local means it only shows posts that originate from the instance your account is created on. In your case it would be lemmy.world.

It's been happening but on a lesser scale, last one I recall was this, but with Tesla he didn't have an active debt to pay off.

Twitter does

Twitter has three large pieces of debt with interest coming due: $6.5 billion that was meant to be sold to leveraged-loan investors, and $6 billion of bridge loans, split equally between a secured and unsecured tranche, that banks had planned to sell in the form of junk bonds.

It was an issue for a lot of international organizations, but Greece and EU made themselves look like fools https://vlemmy.net/post/119595
