I think this and the stuff happening at Twitter are a nice kickstart to get lemmy and other ferdiverse stuff going.

Long live the ferdervers!

But seriously, I'm with you in sentiment. I'm never going back to the centralised/for-profit soc med services.

All their value comes from the free interactions between people chatting, and they think they deserve to get rich for renting the hall. Fuck that, we can just rent the infrastructure ourselves if that's what it takes to talk in peace.

Usually play some Doom 1 or 2, a level or an episode, or Minecraft if I have more time, but I'm in a boring replay/comfort phase because work is kicking my ass atm

My face when I'm trying to use tar and realise I don't have my shell history on this machine

I relayed 1 and 2 maybe a decade ago now, and I remember there were some fan patches that made them much more user friendly. Higher resolutions and mouse scrolling in inventory being the enhancements I remember most.

I do have some nostalgia for to these games, so my tolerance for old school inconvenience is likely higher.

Well... played

That's nice. I'm glad to hear it

All I need is enough people on these decentralised social media platforms to keep me from feeling like I'm missing out by not being on one of the monoliths, and I've already got that now.

I welcome all the new people, and am happy for them to stay and explore, but if the numbers just stayed around where they are now, well, that would be fine too.

It's not like we've got to worry about pumping the numbers for a venture exit or IPO or anything. We can just chill out and enjoy.

I didn't think the official app was recommended. Although I started out using it too (on Android) and found it fine

They're all pretty good, but Tusky is easily the most frictionless one.

I'd guess like 0.2 a year for me, since it's been a few years, and I don't see myself ever eating another unless it's offered to me.

I do like cookies though
