Yeah this looks really good. Split screen support is fantastic, that's what will make me buy this game.

Are jazz guitarrists able to play a song in a "solo guitar" setting without arranging in advance, just from a lead sheet?

I'd appreciate any advice from jazz guitarrists on how to develop this skill.

As a beginner guitarrist, I can appreciate the craft that goes into playing a bassline, chord melodies, all at the same time on just six strings, while also stablishing a groove. It would blow my mind if people can improvise all that on the spot.

How is that awful? The deep dive videos are all we need to understand generally what the new things are, and why we should be looking forward to it. Isn't that all marketing can do?

The best way to learn is to figure stuff out by ear.

The other two suggestions are good: get a couple of real books (there are several) and iReal.

But don't forget to use your ears! Figuring chord changes and melodies by ear is a fundamental skill for jazz musicians.

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about, the one just before the solos.

What do you call sections like that? Tutti, interlude, "the crazy part"?

The only other example I know, apart from Chick Corea, is "Las Pulgas Freeway" Eugenio Toussaint. If you know other examples please do share :D

Modern standards (lemmy.world)

What are modern tunes that might become jazz standards? E.g., songs that are being played in your local jazz scene, at your school, etc.

Not necessarilly universally acknowledged as standards, I'm just curious what modern tunes are fun to play in a jazz setting. Stuff like Strasbourg / St. Denis, videogame and movie soundtracks, etc.

Per Wikipedia:

Defamation, at a first approximation, is any form of communication that can injure a third party's reputation.

So it might be slander, dpending on Italy's laws. :(

I'm also a kagi user and share the same feelings about it. Definitely worth it. Specially since I know my search data is not used to bias search results or sell ads on the search results.

Steam's Proton is an absolute game changer. Unless you cannot live without a few very specific competitive titles, chances are Proton has you covered. Does not require any technical know-how (for the most part). I cannot stress enough how much of a technical and UX achievement Proton is.

Give something like Pop_OS! a try.

Fairphone was literally my top choice before I bought my current smartphone, until I found out I couldn't get it. So this is great, hopefully they still sell it whenever I update my phone (which won't happen for a few years). Several other people have already commented something along these lines, but I'm just happy about it.

Thanks! Went on a Tolkien rabbit hole.

Is this now widely acknowledged as a problem? I don't see a problem with that kind of fragmentation tbh. Especially since there was fragmentation of that kind in reddit too Maybe Lemmy/kbin just need a reliable way to search across instances.

A few days ago I didn't have a single reason to leave reddit. Yet, with so many reasons now, here I am, and I look forward to lemmy and kbin.
