Do real doctors call for locking up public health officials for doing their jobs?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wait so in the US you can just make up your own medical certification board, certify yourself and start practicing?!

[–] [email protected] 30 points 1 year ago

Those are the freedoms that Red states keep screaming about defending.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

No, he left a certification board that brought in policies such as 10yr recertification. This kind of thing isn't uncommon amongst specialties and professions, with fracturing societies and groups. His licence is governed by the State.

The hatred of Fauci is so bizarre. Even if you thought the public health measures he put in place were misguided, it obviously comes from wanting to protect the public using the best science he had at the time. What possible crime could that entail?

[–] [email protected] 61 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fauci didn't even have the power to do anything. He just advised Trump, who was actually the one with the power.

So to hate the guy just giving professional advice is so misguided. But of course, the Republicans needed someone other than Trump to blame for the shit show that we went through.

Exactly. It would have been so easy for donnie to handle covid properly, and even come out more popular than ever, if he had even the least bit of humility and statesmanship. It might have even united the country to some degree.

But...this is donnie we are dealing with. He's a nepo baby run amok and a total narcissist.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago

He made a face when Trump said something stupid, and the MAGoos lost their minds.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Just keep repeating the mantra "gain of function, gain of function" and you will reach the same "enlightenment" that the likes of Rand Paul have.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

You already pointed out his "crime." He used science instead of looking to either the Bible, right wing conspiracy theories, or whatever spilled out of Trump's mouth as the be solution to COVID.

Fauci is a seasoned scientist, a trained rational person asked to serve in high public office for the sake of public safety.

Rand Paul is a self-serving, narcissistic, drama-inducing politician who demanded to be in public office to further his own ends.

Who are you going to believe?!?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago

The one who gets my blood boiling and gives me a villain to blame for my misfortunes, duh.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Over a million people died because the country didn't ever take COVID seriously. People are still dying we just don't really care anymore.

A lot of people should be in jail, Rand Paul included.

Stop lying, the US shut down their economy like everyone else. It just was a terrible mistake

[–] [email protected] 36 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Another GOP scumbag fleecing the rubes by targeting an actual public servant. Dr. Fauci's legacy will be having saved thousands of lives going back to the worst days of AIDS.

Paul will be a trivia question and punchline.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"A Republican Senator who left the US on July 4th to hand deliver a secret and confidential letter from Trump to Putin."

"Who is, Rand Paul?"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Damn it. I was going with “The Moops”.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 year ago

Where's Rand Paul's neighbor when you need him?

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

The Republican Party is full of insane assholes. Not one of them should be allowed into office.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Rand just trying to sell books.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Paul outlines his beliefs in his upcoming book: “Deception: The Great Covid Cover-Up,”

Yeah, all of this is just pretense for making a quick buck.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Is he selling some special formula for those who were "duped" into getting vaccinated to become a "pure blood" again?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Will it be in the fiction section?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago

"Paul outlines his beliefs in his new book"

Ah, there it is.

Fake optometrist can shut the fuck up about anything medical related.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago

This would be pretty funny if he weren’t elected to a major institution…

It's still funny. He has no power to do that and congress isn't even on his side on the issue (they don't have the power to do it either). Either he knows that and thinks Fox News viewers are the idiots they are or he doesn't know that and he's an even bigger idiot than they are to not know his own job. Either way, I'm amused.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's a good thing politicians who think that the way to determine what is and isn't objectively real is to argue about it in public don't get to decide who goes to jail.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

They do though; just not directly. Vote.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah, and Rand Paul is definitely a guy we should be listening to about anything. Absolutely not a lunatic nutbag.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said he thinks former White House chief medial adviser Anthony Fauci deserves jail time.

“And do you believe that Anthony Fauci belongs in jail?” Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Paul.

Paul has a fiery history with Fauci, brimming from disagreements around the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic to vaccinations.

He has also argued that the former infectious diseases doctor lied to Congress by flip-flopping on where the COVID virus began in public and in private.

Paul outlines his beliefs in his upcoming book: “Deception: The Great Covid Cover-Up,” which is expected to be released next week.

“We deserve to know what happened,” he said.“I think the book will go a long way to convincing the rest of America that this man was a traitor to his country,” Paul later added about Fauci.
