If Netanyahu came to the US, Biden would give him another hand job.
Israel and Palestine Politics Discussion
The sole purpose of this community is to discuss Israeli and Palestinian issues. It is not the place for hurling insults, rehashing grudges, or making up history. Any conversation that veers into the "if only your people had" realm will be deleted or locked right away. I started this community in the potentially fruitless hope that we may have a civil conversation about this issue.
Rules:
- References to historical events must include a reputable source. The definition of reputable is up to the mods. Keep that in mind.
- Articles from reputable sources only.
- No name-calling. That's what DMs are for. /s
- Keep it in English. If I don't understand the word, it gets removed. Obvious exceptions would be the use of proper names and references. For example, "wadi" when used to refer to a place is acceptable.
- Discussions that are heading into the probability of becoming a flame war will be locked.
- Repeat offenders will be forced to find another community.
- Anti-Zionism is ok. Anti-Semitism is not.
- Whataboutism is for toddlers. Try to grow up.
- Posting articles about current events is encouraged. Posting the same story from 20 different sources is not.
- Posting an article purely for the purpose of saying "Look what monsters they are" is discouraged unless it can generate an honest discussion. This is probably the most difficult rule to follow.
- No calling anyone a terrorist.
- No YouTube links. Some of us can read.
In front of congress, while they have a standing ovation.
i'm sure that biden would appreciate the rest; because his lips and his nose must be exhausted from all the intense workouts in the last year or so.
Don't fucking announce it!! Invite him for some honor then bag the fucker!
Ah yes, the red wedding of WW3
Yeah, that would probably fall under perfidy, which is a war crime. Although Netanyahu is a war criminal, we probably shouldn't stoop to his level. Then again, Canada isn't at war with Israel, so maybe it isn't quite the same.
Yo, learned a new word today, thanks!
Does it count as a war crime if Canada and Israel are not in war with each other's?
Declaring a state of war is not necessary for the laws of war to apply.
I'm wondering the same thing. I saw another article stating that Hungary has invited Netanyahu and will not enforce the ICC's ruling. However, Hungary is a member of INTERPOL. Maybe INTERPOL can perform the arrest without having to worry about justifying inviting a head of state just to arrest him... 🤔
This is basically an invitation not to come. This is probably the smartest play, geopolitically speaking.
Not very honorable
Hey Bibi, you're invited to a special Canadian Christmas Party in the slammer!
Canada: Hold me back bro, I’ll do it bro
I honestly don't think we would, our politicians love talk and hate action. I also can't think of a reason why he'd visit Canada, which is probably what they're relying on.
The real gangsta move would be inviting him so he shows up then arresting him...
But it's hard to criticize Canada when both of my country's political options can't seem to ever get Bibi's dick out of their mouths.
Something I just realized...
All nations saying this are infact just asking him to stay away, while appearing to be taking a stance for Palestine.
Just think about what would actually happen if they tried, his bodyguards would not let it happen.
They would. Anyone seriously attempting it in their country would have already accept the possibility of all out war with Israel.
Countries like Canada and those in western Europe have stronger military alliances than Israel. They also have a better network of procuring arms, blocking and sanctioning (long term) and are likely to win in a total war senario. Israel’s main backer (USA), would be compelled by NATO to support the NATO members over Israel. Without the US arms, intelligence and presence Israel would be invaded by its neighbours (this doesn’t justify Israel’s current actions, I believe it was entirely possible for Israel to make an acceptable peace with their neighbours - they choose not to and use the consequences of their actions to justify their actions ).
When your doing something like arresting a genocidial head of state, you don’t send a couple of police officers. You send multiple armoured vehicles, hundreds of soldiers and some air support. His security will surrender, aid in his arrest or be shot. The first two are more likely. Israel would rather contest this legally and politically than with might. If the body guards start resisting in anyway then their legal and political case falls apart. It’s all out war of which they will eventually lose and be overrun by their neighbours. Unless NATO invades Israel and decides to provide security for several years.
