Most people agree with him and nothing will ever change their minds. We are not living in a world of evidence based beliefs.
So. The secretary of defense is not an elected position. Most people in the country don't even know who currently holds the role.
The opinion of those he leads and works with is much more important.
The opinion of who leads the country and his voters are more important. It's like the west trying to install democracy and progress in afghanistan. The locals aren't having it.

I saw some bonkers rumor about Trump adjourning cogress allowing him to make recess appointments.
So he throws out shit nominees to force the Senate to not approve someone, looking at you RFK, Trump says he cant work with this Senate and adjourns them. Makes even worse appointmemts and bingo bango we have an american despot.
