As new developments focus attention on Trump’s derangement, a shrewd media observer dissects whether the press is finally treating his deteriorating mental state as a major news event.

I'm annoyed a lot of the press is calling what he did "dancing" which makes it sound like he has more energy and vitality than what he was actually doing, just standing and swaying.

They just can't help themselves but to be overly generous to him.

They're sanewashing him more than anything

he kind of looked like Frankenstein's monster attempting to sway back and fourth. if that's "dancing", then I must be a pro at it!

Didn't he do that thing where he wanks off a pair of ghosts as well?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

I wonder what the mean jerk time is on a pair of ghosts?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

But could we call it dancing? Because that would make me look great at dancing! I would be extremely talented.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 month ago

Meandering with slow motion convulsions is a much better way to describe it

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 month ago

I mean if Kamala wins they won't even get a slap on the wrist for mocking her/telling the truth about her. If Trump wins they gwt sent to the mines or caged until execution.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Maybe that's just what dancing is for man of his extremely advanced age.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

So the headlines should read "old man shuffle"

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

He was confused and lost. He may not have known where he was.

[–] [email protected] 124 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I wish I had a shred of hope that it mattered whatsoever. His ilk would vote for him even if he was a literal corpse.

[–] [email protected] 68 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Where it might matter is the turnout. If it decreases turnout by even 1% of his potential voters that absolutely matters

If nothing else, we can make it matter by letting it inspire us to take action that increases dem turnout

Find opportunities to volunteer for dems around you and online

Write letters to voters in swing states or in competitive downballot races

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

In fact, turnout has been the main thing that has made the difference for many elections. For decades. Very few people in the country still have any space to change their minds, in either direction. You might as well ask them to show up to the voting booth and change their religion (or adopt one).

But a lot of people can change their mind about whether they vote (which still seems insane to me). Almost everyone in that condition sees Trump is an evil sack of shit and understands that Harris is at least competent, if they know nothing else about either of them. Reporting on things like mental decline and Project 2025 is a way to convince them that we're in danger, and it might matter for them to show up.

[–] [email protected] 32 points 1 month ago

His supporters are calling it a “concert”. Like… bro. What the fuck. Come on.

I think it's going to get worse after he passes, because right now he has an active presence with its own will that his henchmen sort of have to listen to. After he goes, everyone around him is going to start doing some heinous shit "in his memory" or "because he would have wanted it".

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

That's a risk I'm willing to take.

[–] [email protected] 91 points 1 month ago (8 children)

Billionaires are bankrolling him (along with key senate republicans) and they have their guy JD on the ticket. My guess is soon after elections these billionaires will force 25th amendment to remove clinically insane Shitler and replace him with President JD as their surrogate.

There is no other explanation why billionaires are so openly pumping Trump and his campaign.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 1 month ago

I'm willing to bet they saw Biden stepping down and promoting Harris, and said "Let's do that, but after the election!"

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It was just announced that Musk is going to be stumping in Pennsylvania every day since Trump can't be seen in public. The stuff Leon, who's not a great public speaker, says may prove as enlightening as it is infuriating. I'm half expecting him to freudian-slip in a "President Vance" at some point.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Anyone stupid enough to listen to Musk is already a lost cause. I doubt it will move the needle.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

That doesn't mean they don't vote

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

If Trump wins I don't think they'll immediately replace him. Keep in mind Trump is easy to influence. He'll agree to anything if you butter him up a bit so a lot of damage can be done under the guise of "Trump did it".

Only when he rants out of line or does something that can't be sanewashed will he be removed. In terms of ideal timing (for Republicans) right after the midterms works best. Trump usually causes problems for the midterms, but assuming he can shuffle past, after the midterms would be best. It would give Vance the incumbency advantage and still allow him to run for two terms.

Of course Vance doesn't have the charisma for that, so it's unlikely to actually happen.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago

Classic pump and dump, really

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

It's dead simple: Trump gave billionaires a huge tax cut when he was president. They are backing him because he will do it again if reelected. That's all they really care about.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I just don’t believe that Trump would go along with that.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The 25th amendment gives a path for the Presidency to be taken from Trump if he is deemed mentally unfit.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago

The "stop the steal" is coming from inside the house!

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The implication is that he doesn't know about it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Obviously, but I’m sure he would fight it till his last dying breath. And I’m sure it would cause absolute chaos.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

Trump doesn't care. Soon as he's sworn in he'll pardon himself for any and all crimes past and future. Then grift as much as possible before getting the 25th amendment boot, which he'll take gladly. No need to act president, and all his legal problems are solved. He can then golf all day every day, exactly as he wants

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Because Trump will cut their taxes again and even more.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 month ago

Giving them a click or two.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can’t believe it’s only 20 days until the country is on fire again

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Personally, I'm awaiting the hordes of immigrant caravans to magically appear just in time for the election and then magically disappear afterwards. I don't know how they do it! ✨👀

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In fairness, the media didn't catch on to Biden until the trainwreck of a debate. Trump just masks it better.

But SNL called it waaaay back when Michael Che asked "Are we sure it's OK to make fun of this guy?"

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Trump in no way masks it better. His dementia has just been ignored by the media.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He has a manic energy to it where Biden just looked lost, that's a pretty big difference.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I agree that Biden had a horrible performance in that debate. One thing I don't agree with, however.... Everyone seemed to take his bewildered looks as him being demented or whatever, but during the debate while I was watching it, I totally related to those looks, because he was giving the side eye to Trump when he said stupid shit. I don't think it was covered entirely without bias there.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 weeks ago

I can only re-iterate what I said at the time... Trump was demented, and Biden looked like a lost little boy.

For folks who have had elderly relatives in rest homes know that look all too well... "Wait, where am I? Why are you here? Why am I here?"

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

NOT BIG ENOUGH.
