There has to be another factor. My dad missed all of my marching band performances and I'm not a fascist.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Aren’t fascists historically known for enjoying marching?

[–] [email protected] 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Thats what I'm saying, man. We gotta check another angle.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Maybe we should force everybody into marching band??

Yeah, but like, marching bands cool.

I suppose it depends what they play.

e.g. Fleetwood Mac's Tusk: https://vimeo.com/9545833#t=1m58s (somewhat cued)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

I enjoyed that

Baseball is the coolest. Dad can show up, get drunk for a few hours, and then drive a bunch of neighborhood kids home without wearing pants, and eating Nachos.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

Ok, but playing baseball is pretty typical. Marching band is a bold choice which is cooler then anything I would give tucker credit for.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That’s oddly specific, but I’m glad you all made it home safely!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh, I never played sports. My dad didn't give a shit if I did stuff like played sports, or had friends. Instead he sent me upstairs to stare at a blank wall.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Oh…

Sorry.

Young tucker always dreamed of being a Broadway star but his father was ashamed that his son wasn't more athletic and never attended any of his private school plays, haunted by the memory of the empty reserved seat he lashes out at anyone with a dream.

Shockingly similar to Ben Shapiro, who seems to have wanted to be a concert violinist and later screenwriter, but had his screenplays rejected and found more luck telling the world that basically all Arabs and Muslims are savages and deserve to be collateral damaged.

At this point I wonder if Rush Limbaugh secretly wanted to be a painter but was rejected from art school.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm willing to bet there was some islamaphobia in those rejected screenplays.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

Not sure about his rejected screenplays but uh well he has definitely written a book or two with comically offensive depictions of black americans, and well now he got his dream come true in the most insane way possible and produces movies that are astoundingly tasteless like Lady Ballers.

Something something lowest common denominator

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Dad shows up to game. He’s drunk again. Laughs at Tucker when he strikes out.

Never comes back. That’s Tucker.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Dad only shows up at game drunk. Laughs at Tucker when he strikes out.

"See you next week son"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

"He swings like a girl!"

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 months ago

Idk my dad dipped out and was in andnout of my life when I was like 8 or 9 and I'm not a nazi.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

His dad might have been the coach, actually.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Man, that must make it even worse when he's not there.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Maybe he was ONLY there for the games.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

to make sure of it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

My Dad was the only reason I played. I didn't have much interest really. Missed plenty of games. I resent him but I'm not taking it out on the world

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

DAE think right wing ragebait talking head #4 is a loser? Updoots to the left!

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

what does that question mean

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

Tucker has daddy issues was my interpretation.

[–] [email protected] -4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Kind of hoping to see lemmy become better than this.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately the low effort political tribalism is likely to just increase as we approach the US elections.

Just block and move on. You'll eventually end up curating your Lemmy experience to not include the type of folks posting low effort shit like this.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

To be a human caught up in this echo chamber is suffocating to think about. On the off chance someone appreciates perspective, i dont mind seeing shitposts.
