Hello! What is the best alternative to Telegram channels in Fediverse? I need platform where I can post messages in different topics and users can subscribe to them.

Telegram Channels similar to Mastodon but with specific topic

So is Matrix. There are both general interest and topical Matrix rooms (eg support or development channels for specific software projects).

AFAIK Matrix isn't ActivityPub compatible like most of the fediverse, if that's what you're asking, but there are official and unofficial bridges for several other platforms so it may be possible.

I need channel to be visible in Fediverse.

I can just create several Mastodon accounts and use each for separate topic bit it is not very comfortable.

I'm not understanding. With Matrix you get channels like "Rust" where you join and it's all about the Rust programming language. Or you can have a group chat with a few people in it.

They're not, they're more like Twitter circles. A channel is one or more authors (that can be masked as simply a post by the channel) blogging to infinite many followers.

I think it doesn't have channels

I wouldn't say best, but Movim (xmpp based) has a personal and shared blog feature, which the latter being somewhat similar in concept to Telegram channels, even though the UX is more blog like.

It is like what I need. I registered on conversations.im but can't access neither my account nor created channel from Mastodon. How to fix this?

I think you are confused. conversations.im is not the best place to register for using Movim. Better chose from https://join.movim.eu

Also, XMPP is not ActivityPub, which Mastodon uses.

I thought XMPP compatible with ActivityHub. Then I need something else

There is an experimental bridge between the two, but yes you are probably better off looking for something else for now if you need Mastodon compatibility.

Could use a Lemmy community I guess

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Also Lemmy posts aren't displayed correctly on Mastodon

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (2 children)

No, in Lemmy communities everyone can post messages, and discuss.

I can just create several Mastodon accounts and use each for separate topic bit it is not very comfortable.

You can set a community to only allow moderators to post

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah, a lemmy moderator only community seems like the closest analog until/unless mastodon gets a topics concept.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Lemmy is not that I need. Mastodon satisfies my needs more but I cannot create topics, unfortunately

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago

You cannot create topics on Mastodon, but you can limit who can post on Lemmy communities.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago

Those are probably your best options right now.

You could also write your own platform that does exactly what you want.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Try to rephrase the question: is there an alternative to Mastadon in Fediverse where you can write posts in different threads (not only in your own feed)?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why do you want sub-accounts, if you can have as many regular accounts as you want?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Seems like this is the only way. But if I want to create many accounts I need have several emails or self-host own instance.

Will the WordPress integration work for you?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

It is too powerful for small messages posting
