Easily the most compelling campaign poster I've seen so far.

My lips are chapped from all these Chef's kisses lately, but this cleary is superb.

As long as it gets more people to listen to one of his STUPIDEST rants of all time.

It has to be a record amount of just the dumbest crap he's ever said in under 3 minutes. He's not actually lying about stuff, it's him fundamentally not knowing super basic science and just putting full display how fucking dumb he is.

He manages to fail:

  1. Understanding buoyancy

  2. Being unaware that gas powered boats also have batteries

  3. Quoting someone as if they agreed with him that was absolutely an insult

  4. Disagreeing with a marine biologist on how sharks work

  5. Not understanding electrical current travels in water

[-] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Your point #2 is misleading. Though he didn't explicitly mention it, the battery he refers to is the high-voltage Li-Ion battery (about 400 V) not the lead-acid starter battery, which is 15 volts when fully charged (on most boats). (I can imagine that's because he doesn't understand the technology; he's been seen ranting about mercury in energy-saving lamps in 2020, well after LEDs superseded fluorescent lamps in all applications.)

Still, the short-circuit current is unlikely to paralyze anyone swimming reasonably far. The easiest way to see if electric boats are indeed hazardous is death statistics. I'm pretty sure there are way fewer electrocution cases at sea than, say, gun deaths.

I swear Harris trying to be the hip young meme conscious candidate because she's only middle aged instead of "was in Methuselah's graduating class" has already hit the barrier of "so cringe it's almost gotten funny again."

Especially since her social media team seems to actually understand how to be loud about confronting the enemy on the internet and making them look dumb.

[-] [email protected] 29 points 1 month ago

Harris is a Boomer by a little over two months. Missed Gen-X by a hair. I hate to break it to the millennials but Harris isn't middle aged...you are.

[-] [email protected] 28 points 1 month ago

Since when did middle aged mean 30s?? I always thought it was mid 40s to mid 50s

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

Late thirties until you qualify for AARP (50), but honestly, we live an actively lifestyle for so long now that it really holds no significance anymore.

I am not questioning that you found this, but it assumes people live to be 120. The optimism is intense.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 month ago

No, it does not assume that at all

"Middle age" has always meant the years from when you are at about half of life expectancy until you go to the next stage of life of newr-retirement or retirement

Aka 40s-60s

[-] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I had boldly assumed that it meant middle of life expectancy, but it does not (although exact range can be debated): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_age#:~:text=Middle%20age%2C%20or%20middle%20adulthood,young%20adulthood%20and%20this%20stage.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Middle aged doesn't mean the halfway point of someone's life, it never has.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

She was 13 when Star Wars came out. That makes her Gen-X as far as I'm concerned.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago
[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Some say 1961 some say 1962 is the start of gen x, so years in favour of she's being gen x.

I mean if anyone cares (spoiler, I don't).

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

It's crazier than that. If you put every single definition of Generation X together, it stretches from the late 1920s to the mid-1980s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_X#Terminology_and_etymology

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Officially from most sources it is 1965, but if we're being honest, the stereotypes of Gen-X come from those born in the 1970's.

It's still fun to welcome Millenials to the grey hair club.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Generation Jones is sometimes used to represent the bridge cohort between Boomer and X. The last boomers / first Gen X.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Bro I'm a Zillenial, I ain't middle shit!

[-] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Seriously. I feel like her media team adopted AOC's social media prowess and ran with it. Love it.

[-] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

This meme is legit funny

[-] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago
[-] [email protected] 26 points 1 month ago

It's on the Internet, so yes.

[-] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago

That's worrying. I overall support Kamala Harris but I am opposed in principle to the use of attack sharks in a presidential campaign.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

It's not actually an attack shark, it just looks like that due to the angle. Both the shark and Kamala are sharing in a funny joke while Trump runs away

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah. Election sharks should be used for defensive purposes only.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

It's hard to tell, but I think Trump is photoshopped in. He's not actually in danger of that shark. The mistake is understandable though!

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

My theory is he thinks it’s a genius thing that he can pronounce “electrocution”. That’s why he keeps repeating that specific word for as many times as possible in his story

This was hand crafted by someone who isn't great at using gimp.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I think AI would produce something better than this.

[-] [email protected] -2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

[-] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago
