Jesus Christ that's 13 seats for Farage. I expect he'll lose a few over the term to scandal, but that is far too many.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
Yeah, puts a real damper on seeing the Tories get the electoral shit kicked out of them to see those fucking Reform loons given access to the Commons.
Fuck the Tories
yep looks like the voters did. hard and with a sand paper condom.
131 is too many.
Congratulations Britian. It's unfortunate to see so many other nations turn the other way.
We've had a shit time, but you can always turn things around.
This isn't an open and shut case. People were pissed off with the Tories, but Tory voters have not switched to Labour, many of them have switched to a party even further to the right, reform, and that is the electorate that the Tories are now going to be chasing for the next election.
This vote wasn't anti-rightwing, it was simply anti-tory and the chance that the next election will yield a party even further to the right of the previous government is considerable.
Will the UK be the world superpower again? I hope so, and I hope you have the power to call the Yanks back to order, because were seriously off course.
Haha lol no we've got no influence any more. We're just a wet little island covered with transphobes. Give us 20 years to rejoin the EU, if it survives that long, and maybe you'll start hearing from us again.
I think saying that the island is covered in transphobes is doing the UK a huge disservice. I'm absolutely not saying things are perfect here and of course there are a few absolute knob heads, but the UK is one of the most accepting countries in the world and the diversity of the UK shows that.
Don't let a few bigots paint a picture of the whole country.
Do the colors mean anything?
Yes - they represent the different parties.
Sorry—I thought they were all separate parties? Like Why are the Green Party the same color as the Conservative Party? Or are those different colors actually? Ignorant American over here just trying to understand a bit better.
I think this how the photo looks from the TV - they are meant to be different colours. This is better version >>> UK Exit Poll
Aaah yes, thank you, so much clearer! I appreciate that the Green Party is actually green, ha. Also I am gonna be tripped up by the red blue dichotomy if I understand Labour vs. Tories correctly since it’s kind of the opposite here in the states. We need some different colors over here too.
ha! Yes you're absolutely correct the blue = conservative/Tories (your Republican party) and red being Labour (the equivalent of your Democratic party). To be honest I think the UK/Europe's colours for the left and right and seem more logical and traditional but I would say that 😉
The red and blue being inversed is mostly (only?) in the US as far as I know. Everywhere else blue is right and red is left.
Another counter example is South Korea, the right wing PPP are red and the left wing DPK are blue.
It's a shit picture.
Do the numbers represent seats in parliament won by the party? Am I correct in assuming the photos are of the party leaders?
Yes albeit this is a projected result based on sample of 20,000 people. The photos are of the party leaders.
That's better than American pollsters who interview 800 people among 333 million and conclude shit
