This is an abomination. As the article said, imagine a 30 year old movie being pulled because it showed an Audi or played a certain song! What the hell

[–] [email protected] 28 points 6 months ago

Maybe not pulled, but there are plenty that aren't legally available digitally because of this, so it's ridiculous there already too

The only difference is that Forza is barely five years old

I can recall the TV show Northern Exposure from 30 years ago never got an accurate DVD release because of music licensing.

I've recently watched WKRP in Cincinnati, "on the web" with the original tracks. Such a great show at the time.

I bought the whole show on DVD a few years ago because it wasn't streaming anywhere. No clue if it was 'accurate' though.

Just noticed it's now streaming on prime a few days back.

Thought I was buying a normal copy of the Drew Carey Show, but it was definitely not. Still enjoyed it.

Yikes. Their games are already overly expensive and have excessive DLCs and now they even have a timer on them. lol

Guess another franchise I'll remove from my wishlist and add to my boycott list.

For this same dumb reason I wanted to play Forza Motorsport 7 on PC and couldn't buy it.

And somehow you can still get NFS games that are at least 10 years old I think

Coincidentally it's on sale for $12 right now, an all-time low price.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

It's cool but it won't help people who've yet to discover the game for one reason or another.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yes it will, it is cheaper and atill availablw for purchace.

They may not have as much time to enjoy it as longer players, but they have time.

I mean people who is not even an audience for now, like children. Or those who is still not born. Or people in Russia.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That's true of any sale of any game though.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

No. Majority of all games are not bound by licensing. You should still be able to buy these games in years to come.

~~The wonderful thing is all the achievements tied to the DLC that's already not purchasable. Tough luck if you want to 100% it now and haven't bought the dlc.~~

~~(Which I don't have. Sad face.)~~

This is pretty common racing game happenings though. Especially AAA titles.

The Ultimate Edition on Steam has all DLC.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

My mistake. I tried to purchase Ultimate edition in the past and it wouldn't allow me to since I already owned the game. Guess they were trying to force buying the DLC piecemeal.

It is purchasable now. Just get the "You won't get an extra copy of the game." error.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago

To add to what you are saying, I wish they would make that message clearer. The first time I saw it, I thought they were still going to charge me for the extra copy and just not give it to me. Still not 100% sure about it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Based on the Steam forums:

Even if you buy the ultimate edition, you won't get all the DLCs previously included in it. There are 5 DLCs that are missing:

  • Forza Horizon 4: Hot Wheels™ Legends Car Pack
  • Forza Horizon 4: Mitsubishi Car Pack
  • Forza Horizon 4: Treasure Map
  • Forza Horizon 4: 1967 Sunbeam Tiger
  • Forza Horizon 4: 1979 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus

It's like publishers want people to pirate games. We know that's surely not true, but their practices seem to make it the only option to appreciate the entirety of the game, and eventually the game itself.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Ultimate Edition on Xbox doesn't include the Hot Wheels Cars DLC. Might be different for Steam tho.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Project Cars 3 being the only one of that series available is a travesty.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think I have a couple I never played from an old Humble Bundle - which is the overall favorite?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago

The second one, the third is absolute garbage.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago

Isn't this what kicked off the "save games" movement or something? How's that going?
