Piracy currently the #7 biggest community based on https://lemmyverse.net/communities

Of course, LW is currently excluded, but still very interesting

[–] freamon 2 points 1 year ago

I looked up some of the bigger LW communities - we'll have to imagine for ourselves how they'd fit:

39.6K technology
29.3K mildlyinfuriating
28.6K fediverse
28.5K nostupidquestions
28.0K youshouldknow
26.5K lemmyworld
25.7K selfhosted
25.5K world
23.0K showerthoughts
21.4K android

futurology.today is an attempt to migrate from /r/futurology (they were having problems with their login page yesterday though)

If the creator doesn't get bored of posting to 'Finnegan's Wake', they'll need to mindful of the danger of being categorised as 'inactive' or 'suspicious' by crawlers and other instances (which can happen to Communities with lots of posts, but no comments, since upvotes don't count as 'activity')

A mere 4 years after me_ira was banned on Reddit, the Lemmy version springs into action.

600euro is all in German, so you won't ... [I'm sure you know the rest]

‘Finnegan’s Wake’

The instance is experimental about Lemmy code in its description, so I don't think it's actual content

[–] freamon 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks. That instance is interesting to me, in that it's one person ranting to themselves about how broke Lemmy is, but I doubt it has real subscribers, so I'll exclude it from future lists.
