its a super robot show at the start yes, you only start seeing the actual plot when Master Asia gets introduced and get to see how fucked its world is.

Piracy is good and you should do more of it. Use https://9anime.to/ and https://4anime.to/ for streaming, and https://nyaa.si/ for torrents. Piracy is the only means of digital protest that audiences have to fight poor worker treatment.
i like super robots! i wish the super robots in g gundam were at all cool tho, they're all so boring and the fights are just bad. i want ridiculous martial arts robots! instead i'm getting the worst fights the franchise has had since zeta gundam
There's some good fights, and a great "Imagawa is making the robot look like it is crying" moment later in the series. Some of the fights are pretty mid, though.
It definitely picks up in Tokyo (where Master Asia comes in and the plot develops). And in the Hong Kong/tournament arc there's a Four-clone that isn't just here to die. The tournament has nothing on Dragon Ball, though.
every fight i've seen so far has been mid, and the robots aren't even cool! i was promised this would deliver on cool robot fights! instead i get the most boring shit imaginable. imagine if it was chuchu beating the shit out of the people destroying earth instead, that would be a million times better
Honestly, the show probably hits a lot harder if your first exposure to it is when you're like 12 lmao. The early bits aren't great, though.
I've been watching Giant Robo recently, and I'm not even sure if giant robot fights are Imagawa's thing. Most of the cool action set pieces I've seen so far in it are all people fighting lol. His runs of Getter Robo, Tetsujin 28, and Mazinger Z are on the list of things I'm planning to watch in the near future, so maybe I'll change my mind.
It indeed picks up at Hong Kong and Master Asia, the first couple episodes are Gundam of the week followed by training filler.
It's a bit rough when the structure of the show can be broken down into: Domon has an episode with each main Gundam boy -> plot advances -> Domon has an episode with each main Gundam boy
I want to see a fake Chuchu with some sort of kit bashed Demi Barding/Bolt Gundam mashup in a future Build show.
I still remember watching it when it aired on Toonami and seeing the German Ninja guy
That moment did a lot for my worldview
I still love G Gundam for it's goofy shit.
Honestly GWitch should have ended with the same ending as G Gundam, which is so incredibly peak.
In the super robot ending canon, I think G Gundam is only topped by Gunbuster (truly the peak ),Diebuster (which is cheating since it's just doing Gunbuster sequel) and Gurren Lagann
